LMVSC has had some good teams since they joined CCL and attracted outside players. As a parent there put it, "The Club started to get recognition as a competitive Club since the club joined CCL just a few years ago.." https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/150/793232.page |
I'll make it simple for you: individuals make decisions and those decisions, in turn, affect other individuals, who then make decisions. Eventually, whole communities are affected. It's important to some people because these are our communities. I think as we get closer to the end of the year, though, it's becoming clearer that this doesn't affect as many people as previously thought. The majority of players at LMVSC didn't ever see the TD, and I suspect it's the same at SYC. And in the summer/fall, both clubs' fields will be full of kids playing the beautiful game. |
I grew up here in the early 1980s, and believe me, LMVSC was already a premier club in the area 30+ years ago. One of my classmates and teammates played there and went on to win a National Championship at UVA with Bruce Arena. You can ask a number of other clubs (including SYC) whether joining the CCL necessarily makes you more competitive. It doesn't. A team's coach, talent and club may make the team more competitive. The league doesn't. At the earlier ages, CCL has made three or four clubs that may be first-rate, and they pummel the others. I have not seen the second- or third-tier CCL boys teams competing effectively against other clubs at all. |
Ok. Good 40 years ago. Both of these clubs are minnows in the grand scheme of things and would get hammered by any of top clubs in NOVA. Have fun trading staffs though. Seems to be really working out for everyone. |
Um, believe me, all of the clubs (and all of us) are minnows in the grand scheme of things. If you don't know that already, you may begin to understand why you are a minnow, or you will find out soon enough. And you are clearly not in the loop if you do not know that each of these clubs (to neither of which my son belongs) has really good teams in certain age groups. But good luck with that bad math and unbelievable grandiosity. You are not alone on this board, minnow. |
| I follow both clubs on social media, and the back-and-forth is getting pretty fuuny. LMVSC makes an announcement, then sYC, and repeat |
Not everyone on this board has a child at a minnow. Keep thinking that though. |

If you don’t have an interest in these ‘minnow’ clubs, gtfo.

I agree! But all the animosity seems to come from the Executive Director at LMVSC, SHE can't handle the fact that the previous Technical Director gave her a 2 weeks notice... It is an obvious decision to want to bring the people you personally hired with you but why she's spitefully hiring those let go by SYC???? |
PP. I’m not feeling animosity from anyone. I also don’t think the hirings are out of spite. I don’t understand why syc let the coaches of their best teams go. |
| I Hope both clubs do well |
Other than Lee, who was brought in that SYC fired? The guys brought in by Este were taking the spot of a lot of SYC current staff. That's why so many have left. Most haven't gone to LMVSC either. |
Perhaps because they weren’t the best. Perhaps good coaches but failed in other aspects such as communication and managing their time. Not sure what will make them better at LMVSC. I can’t imagin they couldn’t find any other coaches but the ones that left syc (fired or not). The ones that left LMVSC made sense since they were following este. |
Makes sense to follow Este but not Lee? Also, SYC coaches are the ones leaving for everywhere. Yes, a couple ended up at LMVSC. And if they're so unwanted at SYC, why did they get offers and why are you upset they're leaving? |
I was making an educated guess to the previous poster asking why syc coaches for the best teams were let go and/or left. I am not upset one way or another. I personally feel Syc got the better deal in that they hired Este to replace Lee then LMVSC turns around and hire Lee who for some reason or another was fired. Syc has the better optics. In the grand scheme of things it’s minor. Kids will play at both clubs and life goes on. Not trying to start a new debate on an old topic. |
