Well, that's the problem, isn't it. One doesn't work *with* the ED, as the ED seems to believe that everyone works *for* her.

I think it's great that the club affords kids an opportunity to play. But, as was pointed out during the meeting I attended, the parents of the kids on scholarships are also the ones least likely to put in volunteer hours/effort, putting even more burden on other parents. The level of control that the ED maintains makes it difficult for me (and apparently others) to consider it "our" club and want to maintain that level of effort.

Let me put it to you this way: after seeing the differences between blue, white, and red teams in how they're managed, coached, and supported by the club, why in the f*ck would a white team parent, let alone a blue team parent, want to dedicate effort to supporting the club?

I get it and things do need to change so that it can be easier to work with and not for the ED. I have seen changes on how they are trying to do a better job so that all teams are made to feel equal. Hopefully the expanded struture will provide that instead of it just being a one person show. Maybe scholarship parents should be required to perform x amount of volunteer hours for the club.

Wishful thinking there!. The disparity between the Red, White and Blue teams will always be there. As one parent at the meeting said: They are lying to our faces!
Our White and Blue teams are not bringing them stardom is the Red teams (the most affluent teams). All the Red teams HATE PEP training, why? Because the club is depriving them of one quality practice with their own coach and mixing them with the Blue and White teams to "made all the teams feel equal"

There is also no moving /switching between the teams. Red teams literally try to recruit new players from the outside before the even take a look at the White and Blue teams. When do you EVER see them at the fields looking for talent? Right, never!

Lies, lies, lies!

And to the previous poster... You know the Club has about 1,000 kids on Scholarships. Tax payers money from all of us!

This is nearly all wrong/incorrect. Red teams don't like PEP for various reasons, most of which is that it's not *fun*, i.e. running around in circles in a 6v6 scrimmage while Pepe yells, "Good job, big man!" at you. At PEP they get beaten (sometimes) by white and blue players, which they don't like, and actually get correction, which they REALLY don't like because they are unaccustomed to anything other than praise.

I've seen lots of kids move from one level to another--in both directions.

And there are nowhere 1,000 kids on scholarship.

You had to have been trying to get all of that wrong.

Does anybody know why the LMVSC 2007 boys blue team had to forfeit their game today?

Sorry to correct you but...

Take a look at November's Newsletter:

"Dear LMVSC families,

I hope everyone is doing well and had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

As many are aware, LMVSC provides scholarship funding/Financial Aid to over 1,000 members to participate in our Soccer and Basketball Programs. Unlike many Clubs, LMVSC does not have a deadline or cap on Financial Aid. With that, we have created a #GivingTuesday Campaign to raise additional funds specifically to help ensure we continue to provide ongoing support to our members who need assistance. Please see the link below regarding LMVSC #GivingTuesday Campaign in order to help our scholarship players in our club."

NO cap or deadline either. Most Clubs have caps AND deadlines.

Also, We are talking about two different age groups. My kid is not in any of coach Pepe's teams. But, it seems like you got your own issues there....I do know that coach Pepe doesn't even bring his teams to PEP.
Again, parents in Red teams are very vocal that they do not like PEP, maybe they're just too good to be mixed with White and Blue teams.

Fair enough. The number the ED gave at the meeting I attended was much lower--in the neighborhood of 200. I doubt she's unclear on the actual number, so I would guess she inflates it when it serves one purpose, and minimizes in other circumstances.

As I stated, there are many reasons that people don't like PEP. I've seen a younger age group at PEP, and the red team players did not stand out as quality players--if anything, their decision-making was poorer. But that's neither here nor there.

I (maybe?) stand corrected.

The 1000 includes Rec and basketball. Rec is much cheaper.

Rec or not the Club has ALWAYS "survived" on Scholarship money. As the ED said at the meeting this is a small Club nested in an area that has and probably attracts a lot of low income/Title 1 families. No caps! More affluent families in the area are probably driving to Arlington, Alexandria, BRYC (girls), etc.

The Club started to get recognition as a competitive Club since the club joined CCL just a few years ago...

Anyone heard about WAGS sponsoring 16 of Lula’s closest friends to go to the World Cup....I mean “Coaching Education” wink wink. I guess when you are the Chairman of the WAGS board and all your friends are on the Board you can get away with blowing what should be monies back to the many teams that contributed to the 1.8 million that she is really justifying spending. Maybe instead of threatening lawsuits on Coaches and Clubs someone should start an investigation into where all the money from the WAGS Foundation is actually being spent on an annual basis.

Thanks Donald. Right after we investigate the Clinton campaign, we'll be on it.

"Lots of people are saying..."

In real news, how about LMVSC having TWO "Red" teams next year in some age groups: One so that they can accommodate a team coming over from SYC, and another so that coaches can continue to have their sons on the "red" team. Yay!
