It does get all of the kids walking when it's light out, so I can support that so they can watch out for the ice. Nothing is going to melt though. |
DP. Basically every teacher I had growing up did this, so I believe it. I don't disagree with about it being unprofessional but I've seen it happen. |
Thank you for supporting rigor and education! |
Would you rather i take them off and leave them to have make up days with a sub? This way i am at least in the room to assist and answer questions. College basketball is my biggest hobby. Im allowed to have interests outside of teaching |
It’s much easier to institute changes in a single school than in an entire county. Plus, private schools have parents who care and are involved and are willing to help the school institute reform. |
It won’t be dark when high school students are walking in the streets. |
| The contingency days in June are pointless. AP exams are in May. |
And the games don’t distract the students who need to make up work? It’s true that I’ve had many of my students have asked for me to play a movie while they do independent work. Maybe this generation is more comfortable with a deluge of stimuli? Personally, I can’t concentrate on what I need to do when a movie is playing. I tell them it’s classical music or nothing. |
And many will already be gone to camps, summer programs, and vacations. They need to open tomorrow and they need to use March 20 and April 15. I’d love them to use President’s Day and the day after too |
Wow. I’m astonished. |
I don’t know that the second part of what you wrote is actually true. Plenty of private school parents feel like they are cutting a very big check and that pretty much everything else should be taken care of by the school from that point. |
You’re allowed to have hobbies outside of work. But just as I can’t just watch sports games while I’m working, neither should you! Tape the games and watch them at home… |
They should definitely use Presidents’ Day and the day after. |
Why is everyone here so obsessed with AP classes? If your kid is truly an AP student, they'd be studying on their own and capable of passing the course regardless of missing *gasp* 4 45 minute classes. |
This is a great idea. Group stops in a central location only. |
