There must be a better way in between do nothing and war.

Honestly I am so disturbed by this.

Billionaires around the world despise people who are not in their club. When will the average American realize that?

There is not. When one side completely gives up the idea of accountability at the ballot box, the game is over. The other side either goes along with the end of democracy, or it forces the tyrants to heel in the only language they understand.

Jefferson warned us that the tree of liberty was going to need to be refreshed from time to time.

How can it be legal to ever gerrymander based on partisanship. It means disenfranchised voters from one party or the other depending on the state. It means voters not receiving representation in the House. It basically nullified the entire system of the House of Representatives.

Gerrymandering based on any voter feature should be illegal. If you can’t do it for race, how can they possibly justify political party or ANYTHING else.

This is outrageous. It completely breaks the system.

Well. The system is actually broken already. GOPhas to cheat to win.

Partisan gerrymandering is indeed currently illegal and unconstitutional in Florida but DeSantis and the GOP state legislature don’t care. Remains to be seen what the Florida Supreme Court, stuffed with DeSantis and Scott appointees, will think.

DeSantis and the FL Supreme Court are on the verge of breaking Florida's constitution. Once they go down this path, the ramifications will not be foreseeable, and it will have long-term unexpected consequences.

The Supreme Court ruled its current map is an unconstitutional racial gerrymander.

The map used by Alabama in the 2024 election was ruled an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. They used it anyway.

The Confederacy is rising. Alabama and Tennessee join Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi in a race to disenfranchise people of color from their political power.

I am wondering if there will be a point in time that college and pro athletes might use their voice and leverage on this?

It never fails: as soon as John Roberts rules from the bench that racism is over and we don’t need the civil rights era laws, southern racists start falling over each other to codify their racism.

Pretty weird argument for people who call themselves originalists.

remember all those articles extolling the "New South" in Georgia and Arkansas? Ya, all propaganda.

If only Roberts had adopted daughters from Ethiopia instead of illegally from Ireland he would understand.

Taking a look at these districts, it is clear Democrats leveraged a misreading of the Voting Rights Act to go out of their way to create black majority districts.

Now in response, Democrats in states they control will look to change the black majority districts to dilute them them and spread them into other districts to gain seats.
