He thinks Black coaches should be allowed to do whatever they want and if you disagree, you are a racist.

Which is bizarre because no one cares that he's black except his fan club. If a white or purple coach did the same exact thing, it would be just as disgusting and cringe.

If he were white there wouldn’t be a discussion or the response/investigation, and certainly would not be muted. That’s the whole point.

There is no discussion about the white ones that do it. Martinsburg, Quince Orchard, Madison, Battlefield, Patriot, etc, all get kids who come to the school because the want to be part of the football program. Those schools have done it for years.

It’s okay for them to build powerhouses. Overton builds a powerhouse, we keep getting these witch hunts and media headlines discussing false allegations, the school systems do investigations finding the program to be in compliance, and then we still get the slanderous posts in online forums.

What we see here is a great example of the system of white supremacy.

None of those schools are in FCPS. FCPS parents don’t want this kind of cheating in HS sports. It’s horrible for all of the other kids at Freedom and elsewhere. FCPS is failing by not disciplining the principal, coach and his hangers on.

Madison is FCPS. The other schools are local examples of the same thing happening where there is no outrage. If these coaches were in FCPS, there would be no discussion. Like Madison, they’d just be schools with good football programs. Their coaches have the complexion for the protection.

Where is the information on the Madison HS football coach cheating and bringing in dozens of transfers this school year? I missed that news article.

I doubt the news media is going to publish any article exposing how a white coach at Madison could be bending the rules to get an advantage for his athletic team. Nor will we see a bunch of rumors and slanderous lies about a white coach on DCUM, like we are seeing with Overton.

So you have no proof or evidence whatsoever regarding the Madison team, yet you keep bringing it up? Trying to drag everyone down in the mud with Overton?

Probably taking extra precautions. With all the negative press and hate he was getting, the coach probably did his own investigation or made kids jump through extra hoops so nothing could be used as ammunition to allow the white supremacists to block his program from winning the championship. His kids worked too hard. I’m sure it’s important to them and the Hayfield community to let the haters come in and mess this up. This will be Hayfields first state football championship.

Except the kids were removed from the roster promptly after a meeting with the VHSL. You are saying that meeting was a complete coincidence, but the coach was diligently conducting his own investigation? LOL>

Undisputed facts: At least 12 players on Hayfield Varsity are listed as playing for Freedom last year, as well as 3 transfers from private schools in MD and DC.

There are also 7 new junior and senior players on Varsity who did not attend Hayfield last year.

That's 22 definite transfers who are new this year to Hayfield Varsity.

There are an additional 13 freshman listed on the Varsity team with no way of knowing where they came from. I have never seen an FCPS HS roster with 13 freshman on it. Even 1 freshman on Varsity is highly unusual. Speculation: At least some if not most or all of these kids probably play on the coach's private AAU team.

Sophomores are a mystery without a published Hayfield freshman roster from last year.

Finally, there are still a handful of players who were pulled off the roster at the last minute by VHSL who are still not eligible. No one knows how many or why they are barred from playing.

So, if Hayfield parents have been saying 33, its easy to see how they got up to that number. Its clearly more than 15. (And 15 transfers is an insane number!)

Its so racist of you to look at the published rosters and compare names. Reading is for racists.

I’m beginning to wonder, after observing this back and forth conversation. And after listening to some of the interviews on the local sports podcasts on class 6A. I’m beginning to wonder if the coach is simply a very likeable guy with a dynamic personality who inspires his kids. And is a pretty good coach on top of that. So the top talent are flocking to him, and wherever he goes, the top athletes follow, and so does his entourage and/or retinue. If he were to pick up his bags and go to Justice (Stuart) or Falls Church, I’m sure his entourage and talent would follow, and players would move in bounds for those schools.

Whether or not he’s a good businessman is another thing entirely. I don’t know much about the successes or failures of his business ventures into youth football.

What private schools did the transfers come from? Just curious.

We don't know if he's a good coach or not. He's never coached a regular HS team that wasn't stacked with recruited players.

Two were from DeMatha in Hyattsville MD, one from Bishop Ireton, one from St Johns College in Washington DC. One kid went to Potomac HS in PWC last year. Not sure where all the other transfers came from besides Freedom of course.

And another one previously played for McKinley HS in DC.

Every year several kids who come through his program leave with division 1 college scholarships. Since most high schools don’t even produce 1 division 1 football player in a year and there are a lot of schools that have never produced a division 1 football player, I think you have to place him in the "good coach” category.

His program may not be the best fit for every kid, but he’s certainly doing his job as a coach.

Wow, seeing the numbers put down like this does make it seem pretty nuts. At least 22 new players on a Varsity roster is wild. The 13 freshman on Varsity is frankly bizarre. Unheard of. No wonder the real Hayfield families were irate.

If I’m a Black Coach with a chance to win it all and I knew some white supremacists were putting pressure on the VHSL and FCPS to shut down my program, I’d be crossing my T’s and dotting my I’s too. He’s got too much to lose.

Sorry, I disagree. He is recruiting talent, not coaching kids up to be D1 level players.

When he takes a job as a regular public high school coach who does not recruit (like 99% of high school coaches) and coaches the kids on the team who live in the neighborhoods zoned to that school, and has a winning season and sends kids to D1 colleges, get back to me.

What white supremacists? The Black mom who was the whistleblower? The POC reporter who broke the story for the Fairfax Times? The Black reporter from Fox 5 News who covered the scandal?

Sorry, your fantasy version of a heroic coach trying to follow the rules does not match the events that actually happened. VHSL had a meeting with the coach and school and immediately 8+ players who the Coach had placed on the team were booted off the roster as ineligible.
