Bill Ackman forgives wife for plagiarism

Problem is that he can't defend her without undermining his own position.

The chess here is fascinating

You mean he loves his investment.

But the only ones he went all out to get fired were the two non-Jewish ones…

AND he made sure to smear the black dean as an unqualified diversity hire, which was completely unnecessary to his campaign against her…

Meanwhile, Kornbluth, the Jewish dean remains employed and unbothered.

You are incorrect about Ackman's intentions re: Kornbluth. He's definitely going after her--and all the faculty at MIT. He's also threatened to expose faculty at other elite colleges for plagiarism.

"Already embroiled in a high-profile effort to oust the president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Bill Ackman, a hedge fund manager with an estimated worth of $4 billion, says he is now launching a plagiarism check of cell biologist Sally Kornbluth along with all the school’s faculty and its board members. Ackman has for weeks called for the firing or resignation of Kornbluth, a former Duke University provost who became president of MIT 1 year ago. His latest action, announced on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, comes after Ackman was angered by two Business Insider exposés of his wife, Neri Oxman, an American Israeli artist and architect who earned her Ph.D. in design computation at MIT. In articles published on 4 and 5 January, Business Insider found that Oxman’s 2010 doctoral dissertation and other academic writing included multiple passages substantially lifted from other academic sources or from Wikipedia without proper attribution."

Don’t waste my time by trying to exaggerate his token mention of Kornbluth (that came only when he was repeatedly called out for being curiously silent about the Jewish dean). You’re not that stupid and neither am I. Compare the all-out campaign of character assassination, complete with racist dogwhistles and intense fixation that he waged against Gay. For months, not a single day went by without him tweeting about Gay and retweeting racist posts about Gay. He absolutely has not gone after Kornbluth.

Call a spade a spade. He couldn’t tolerate a black woman cashing his check for Harvard and then shutting the door on him.

Entitlement.

This story just gets better and better. After talking with the CEO and a board member of the company that owns Business Insider, Ackman did not get the relief he is looking for. So today he published an epically-long screed on X summarizing his side of the story (“the facts”) and ending with the demands below. I swear this stuff is comic gold. And it provides a lot of insight into how the super wealthy and entitled think.

Note: AS stands for the company that owns BI. (It’s in Germany, I believe). Michael is a typo for Mathias, the CEO. Henry is the major shareholder on the board.

What Needs to Happen Now

1. AS needs to immediately depublish all of the Neri Oxman plagiarism stories

2. AS, its board, and its management need to issue a public apology for defaming my wife and causing her severe emotional stress and reputational damage to her and to her new company OXMAN.

3. Michael needs to get on a plane and come to meet me in New York immediately.

4. Michael, Henry, and I need to sit down tomorrow and resolve this mess so that:

This never happens again to anyone ever.

A settlement fund should be created to compensate all those who have been victimized by BI for the losses and harm they have suffered.

Whoever is responsible for this mess should held accountable, and the punishment should be severe.

A mechanism is put in place where this never happens again to anyone.

The proceeds of any settlement that Neri receives should go to her company OXMAN so she can accelerate the incredible work she does. Already $70 million has been invested in her launch, but more capital will help.

The time for this madness to end is now.

omg, this guy is such a sucker for dumping $70M into his wife's vanity company. This take "rich wife's money-losing business" to a whole new level.

He still does not realize that he's the mark.

And of course Ackman's wife was never president of Harvard, which you'd think would expect the highest academic standards of its president.

There is a whole thread on Harvard's president resignation.

This one is about the hypocrisy of Ackman instantaneously forgiving his wife just hours after finishing off the other lady.

Echoes of Harvey Dent?

but I was just pointing out the two cases are completely different, largely because of the positions of the two women. If Ackman's wife was president of MIT, she probably should have resigned also.

Wait.... are you trying to make this be about the wife and not him???

If I got a kid expelled from my daughter's school because she plagiarized - and then a day later praised my kid for "admitting to it" then I would be a world class clown. Same thing here. This guy is a clown that everyone has to be on eggshells around because he is 3000 feet tall and vengeful.

Yes because his wife acknowledged her (4) mistakes immediately. Gay has never even acknowledged her (allegedly 50) mistakes at all. I'd be proud of my wife too if I was Ackman.

She "acknowledged" her mistake after she was outed. If she was so noble she would have admitted to it LONG before her husband showed his @$$.

Exactly, honorable students do not plagiarize, or try their best not to be so bold as to lift multiple Wikipedia pages verbatim in a PhD dissertation. Sorry, she feels embarrassed. The same standards must be upheld for everyone.

Serious question: is Neri withholding his meds?

“This is the best and most important thing I have ever written.

Don’t miss it.”

Ackman is a horse's patoot and that is the end from which he spits his venom.

Watch David Rubenstein's interview with Ackman whose arrogance just makes you want to give her m a swift kick into the middle of the next century. Rubenstein asked him if he would ever run for president and he gave a Ross Perot- type he would when the people asked him to run.

Make no mistake he is as big a narcissist as Trump and, frankly, more dangerous than Trump!

Anonymous
lol he’s definitely making a good case for retiring the Streisand effect in favor of the Ackman effect.

Oh my gosh. This unhinged dweeb is on CNBC right now and sounds crazy. He is truly lost in the sauce. His second wife has him wrapped around her finger.

He sounds so unimpressive and stupid on CNBC. An entitled nepo baby. Another Jared Kushner.
