Because she slept her way through the academy and exploited her looks to gain the backing of wealthy donors and powerbrokers in and outside MIT. You can’t be serious. Her mom isn’t merely prominent. Both Neri’s parents are famous in her field, with her mom having very strong, decades-long connections specifically to Jewish academics at multiple top American universities. Neri’s thesis advisor at MIT was first her mom’s longtime co-author and friend for years before he took on Neri. Neri never had to do a post-doc to land a tenure-track job at MIT because her parents friends both within and outside MIT landed her a position. The same powerbrokers at Harvard and MIT who she knew through her mom also have tight ties to Bill Oxman because they’re part of the same insular, Jewish, ultrazionist circles and introduced the two, encouraging him to date her. Also, if you look into the decision makers at various publications who made her famous, they also have ties to her parents and parents’ friends.

In fact, she and Brad Pitt met because Marty Peretz, who is also her parents’ longtime friend, moves in Hollywood circles and introduced her to people in those circles who then introduced her to Brad Pitt.

PP here. Yup, she wasn’t ever going to be anything except a star. All she had to do was walk the path her parents and their friends laid out and date/marry strategically. She did those things and she’s set for life. Don’t hate the player. In those circles, everyone wins when one rises higher because they pull each other (and only each other) up. They don’t help or closely associate non-Jewish people or even Jews whose prominence and Zionist bona fides aren’t established (and that’s why Brad Pitt was only used to further raise her profile by leaking his visit to the media, but wasn’t seriously considered as a love interest). So, their resources are well conserved. If only every group was as smart.

NP. Don’t be so lazy. A quick google will reveal that her own closest friends (not to mention her parents) are wildly well connected in Hollywood, academia, and business. Linda Rottenberg, CEO of Endeavor, is a close friend, for example. No shortage of people who strategized and curated Neri’s rise to celebrity.

As an academic I think it's pretty egregious if you're lifting from Wikipedia for your dissertation, unless your dissertation is on crowd-sourced information.
