Ken Paxton will probably be Trumps AG. Vote accordingly.

Here’s one sad, sad attempt.

I started a thread year and years ago with the title something along the lines of forced birthers being monsters and I stand by that.

Here’s the state health department of Mississippi on Trisomy 18: “It is hard to predict how long a child with Trisomy 18 will live. Most children with Trisomy 18 do not live beyond the first two weeks of life and fewer than 10% will live beyond the first year of life typically due to significant heart or lung defects. A small number will reach their teen years but often require continuous care and extensive support for daily living.“ https://msdh.ms.gov/page/41,0,285,981.html#:~:text=Most%20children%20with%20Trisomy%2018,significant%20heart%20or%20lung%20defects.

Can you imagine what kind of a snit eating low life a person would have to be to lie as much as that Texas forced birther group did? 90%, eh?

He’s certainly corrupt and immoral enough.

This is seriously scary.

It is. He has a federal securities fraud trial starting in a few months, though. Finally.

Detailed and infuriating interview with Amanda Zurawski the lead plaintiff in Zurawski v. State of Texas. When Kate Cox heard about her case she contacted her legal team. This interview shows the real, human effects of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Zurawski is joined by one of the lawyers representing her in the case, Jamie Levitt. While it may make you as angry as the NYT Roe story, I highly recommend listening.

The big takeaways:
This is bigger than Texas.
Change won’t happen until we elect pro choice candidates.
Unless change happens, women will die.

I am currently in TX (not really by choice) and visited with my friend who lives in Austin today. They feel so helpless here. Her brother and his family left TX a couple years ago and are so happy their kids won’t be forced to live under these crappy laws. My friend is unmarried and childless, so she can continue to live here. But dang, does she hate the R lawmakers.

It’s these people and the Democratic voters and poor women who haven’t choice in living there I feel the worst for.

Some hopeful signs from Texas. The Texas Democratic Party recruited aggressively this cycle, and Kate Cox’s story got folks to step up in the last minute. This cycle Democrats are contesting every statewide office, every Supreme Court seat up, every court of appeals seat, every state school board seat, and every state senate seat up.

This means that everyone will be talking about what happened to Kate Cox and the Supreme Court’s decision on her case.

If you’re looking to make a difference, consider giving to Blue Texas, an organization that crowdfunds support to statehouse candidates in the toughest districts while protecting voting rights.

If you do contribute, set up monthly donations so they can make longer term plans. It doesn’t have to be a lot. I give $10 per month.

Sounds good. I’m all for helping any way I can. I hate that my niece (currently in 8th grade) won’t have options in worst case scenario.

One of the monstrous aspects of this is that the Republicans worked tirelessly for generations to make this cruelty possible.

What’s more baffling is that people just ignored it. The banality of evil indeed.

People couldn't imagine how bad it would be. The 20+ women taking Texas to court are ONLY asking for clarification of the law. They aren't asking for a roll back only CLARIFICATION. Even Kate Cox thought she would qualify. Many, many women are finally waking up to the reality that "exceptions" are really just a way for GOP till give their voters a permission structure to vote for them.

Plenty of us told people how bad it would be, but DUMB WOMEN voted R anyway.

And yes, if you voted R, you are a DUMB WOMAN.

Calling people stupid is not a great motivator. I get it, I’m furious too. Most women who vote for Republicans will never change. But 1/3 of Americans don’t vote. Look at the midterms where CA and NY LOST seats. It wasn’t gerrymandering. It was because women in those states didn’t feel the threat. States with bans saw a larger turnout, it just wasn’t enough to overcome the gerrymandering and voter suppression in those states.

We are all at risk and we all need to vote like that. we need to educate and motivate more people to vote.

So stop calling people stupid and get involved or donate to mobilize people to vote and elect Pro Choice candidates.
