Every single linkedin user is able to make every single aspect of their profile private and yet mysteriously they don't. 30 years into their law careers and they still want everyone who googles their name to come up with "Harvard class of 1995."

Do you hear yourself stalker? Do you actually think that parents want their names and their children’s names to be googled by a stranger who is trying to determine whether or not said child is a legacy of a particular college. Their LinkedIn profiles are public for their own business/professional purposes. Not for you to stalk their family!

It works almost 10@% of the time for unique or some heat unique names. It takes one minute of googling, not 15.

You are not accessing one bit of info that the kids or parents themselves have posted on open-to-the-public social media sites. trust me, the parents want you to know that they went to Harvard or Brown. They could go private at any minute.

What do you do with this information? How do you know they are related? There are many common last names.

This behavior is worrisome, but what’s worse is this person is admitting to it and thinks there is nothing at all weird about it.

Yes, those Whitman and Churchill families not paying 13 years of private school tuition are so poor.

PoorER. Can you read?!?

You have no idea if they're poorer. They may have more money from not spending it on private school tuition.

Yes, very impressive! I’m not a Sidwell parent, but credit should be given where credit is due. There are a bunch of Sidwell haters in the Private School Forum.

Being considered the top school in the DMV is great for Sidwell. The downside is that it makes the school a constant target.

The recent Sidwell posts are all hooked kids as well. Harvard is legacy, Brown legacy, Penn URM. It's the same story.

How do you know this?

Google is your friend.

You googled the kids and found their parents’ names and college info?

It’s public info.

It’s public information that you googled. After you googled the student, you googled the parents. You had to have spent at least 10-15 minutes per student. You are a stalker. Sad.

Yeah, this is genuinely frightening behavior. It’s stalking kids to determine if they’re legacy for college. What made you think it was appropriate to do that?

There’s nothing illegal about it, and nothing you can do about it.

I never said it was illegal. I said it was worrisome and inappropriate, which I stand by. And your doubling down on it is quite honestly frightening. I hope nobody goes to these great lengths to cyber stalk my child when she’s a senior at one of these schools.

How do you even find parent names? Do you just google Larla Smith parents?

Works for unique last names. Search “Sarah abrdjtschjt Washington DC” and anything you’d want to know comes up.

We’re both entitled to our own opinions. I believe they are poorer. You are free to disagree, but that won’t change my mind.

Completely agree. My child posted on one of these because she was proud of her accomplishments and wanted to share. Yes, she knows it’s public. But that doesn’t mean that creepy adults should be stalking her, trying to figure out how she got into a T10.

It’s public info.

I noticed Sidwell is so much stronger than GDS this year, which is surprising. I thought they draw similar families and are thought of as equals. I also wish schools weren’t so tight lipped about their matriculation lists, then we wouldn’t have parents looking at teenager’s social media pages.

They are actually very different. Sidwell is has Christian Quaker roots and considered the "Harvard of day schools" and GDS' roots were for diversity day one with no religious affiliation. Also, they are on different levels as Sidwell is more prestigious.

This is relatively surprising considering how strong GDS was doing at the start. It looked like GDS would solidly outperform them, but Sidwell is on a hot streak now. Doing very very well at T20s and some strong LACs as well - Pomona, Hamilton, Carleton, Hamilton, Midd
