| WashU, not the second Hamilton. Oops! |
| Damn! GDS not so impressive this year. All nice schools but the prestigious ones are striking absent. The drop off situation has gotten that school all kinds of mixed up. |
Top publics as well: UVA and Michigan |
Besides Ivies, Sidwell is also doing great with top 20/25 universities. Quite a few students are heading to Northwestern, Georgetown, Emory, and NYU. |
Wow is NYU now a top university? When I was in school that was a safety. |
DP but while I don’t consider it elite, schools like BU, Tulane, and NYU are very hard to get into nowadays, especially if you don’t do early decision. |
| BU and NYU yes Tulane no. They are infamous for manipulating admissions in a Colby/NEUish way and it is easy to get into with an EA app |
BU and Tulane too? You're kidding. What happened? |
Glad to see we have some truly old people on DCUM or DCUGM
|
| NYU is relatively easy from Sidwell. They absolutely love the kids for some reason and Naviance is surprisingly forgiving |
You may disagree, but in modern times, USNews says it’s #25. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/nyu-2785 |
I’m another old person. I only started thinking about college recently because my son will be entering high school. These boards scare me. It seems like ivies are now lotteries, even for legacies. Schools I considered safeties are now highly sought arter. |
So what? GDS outperformed Sidwell last year. Holton’s college outcomes are better than NCS this year, based on the instagram posts. Way too soon to call a trend. The private schools kids will be fine! |
|
Well fine is more like “ok” and it worries me off to pay for OK. You’re telling me that my kid has NYU or BU or Tulane to look forward to after my investment?
Are you kidding me? You people are delusional if you think that’s OK. I’m not talking about for a B student I’m talking about these kids getting A’s and high scores. This shows me no difference now between the different rated private or public high schools. |
There is a difference. The kids from private schools are better prepared for college. It's not going well for public school kids in college these days...very rude awakening for them. I hear this from parents and professors. |
