McLean got off to a good start in building a 5-1 first quarter lead. Its FOGO, who has improved markedly since last year, won most of the faceoffs in the first quarter, which allowed McLean to control the ball early in the game. By the early part of the second quarter, McLean had stretched its lead to 6-1, based largely on no. 7, who again played out of the right midfielder position, scoring 4 first-half goals despite Yorktown using three different defenders to try to stop him, including its All-District SSDM, a second SSDM, and a D-pole. About a third of the way through the second quarter, Yorktown began winning the faceoffs and took the momentum. Yorktown scored several unanswered goals on one-on-one dodges and unselfish passing to close McLean's lead to 9-8 going into halftime. McLean battled back in the third quarter and had a two-goal lead midway through the fourth quarter. McLean's no. 7 scored 2 more goals (6 goals overall) with no. 3, a midfielder, adding 3 goals, and McLean's X attack (no. 10) and left attack (no. 1) chipping in a couple of goals each. That wasn't enough, however, as Yorktown regained the momentum with 3 unanswered goals. It didn't help that McLean threw the ball away on five or six possessions later in the fourth quarter, including an own-goal by McLean's goalie who threw the ball into McLean's goal on a checked pass. McLean still had a chance to tie the game with about a minute to go, however, a D-pole inexplicably attempted a 35-yard, cross-field pass into McLean's offensive end that sailed 15 feet over the intended target's head out of bounds. In coming back and winning the game, Yorktown showed the resiliency and teamwork that good teams have and should be a favorite in the upcoming regional and state playoffs. Congratulations. |

| I was at the Yorktown/McLean game last night. McLean showed some toughness but Yorktowns attack is really good. They scored almost every time they needed to it felt like. I think when Yorktown is clicking on all cylinders there almost impossible to beat. |
| I predict LB pulls it together and makes school history for the lacrosse program |
It could happen. It will be a tough road for anyone coming out of Region C/D. LB presumably will have to beat either Madison or Yorktown in the first game of States and then Madison/Yorktown or Robinson in the semis and then Battlefield in the finals. Need to play three good games in a row. |
| A region C/D state champ will have gone through quite a gauntlet to get it done. Looking forward to see how it plays out. Health of the boys and weather conditions, whether excessive heat or rain could play a big factor as well. Heat could certainly be a factor working against LB as they lean on their top guys because of a lack of depth. Thankfully, it sounds like the state brackets are getting a rework before next year's postseason. |

Taking a guess on the Region C bracket based on the games that are popping into MaxPreps:
(P1) Lake Braddock v. West Springfield (N2) Falls Church v. Alexandria City (P2) Robinson v. South County (N2) Hayfield v. Woodson |
McLean got its revenge tonight by beating Yorktown 8-6 at a 10-inning baseball game carried over from last night. Yorktown had the momentum going and then the lights in Arlington lost power forcing the game to be finished tonight. |
| Yeah...I don't think the baseball team winning is making any of the McLean players feel any better about last night. I think they are probably hoping for another shot if they can get past the next 2 games....which won't be easy |
