She has the money, she did not have to run off with anyone. She could get away from her DH safely and even get the kids if she wanted.

Anyways, WHO runs at 4:30 am? This is so weird.

Several people in my neighborhood walk dogs, walk or run before 5:00AM. Presumably they work jobs with early starts.

April said she'd seen Abston at his brother's apartment nearly every day in recent months.

She described him as a 'pervert,' who once snuck up behind her and propositioned her for sex. He did the same to other women in the complex, and at times would sit in his black SUV gawking at women walking by or sitting on stoops.

'When women were around, he would sit in the truck and stare,' April said.

Sounding more and more that the husband was not involved . Do any of you feel bad that you convicted him based on tattoos and social standing??

Do better.

Oh, I wrote about her jogging alone at 4:30 am wearing skimpy jogging clothes and making her an easy target of criminal, sexual predators, sex trafficker etc...and that was correct, right? Some people react badly when you say the word "skimpy" because exercise clothing, and swim clothing usually are normally designed to be covering a body completely. I was not slut shaming as I am also a woman.

But, my thinking is that we have no way to know if any man who is watching a girl or a woman is a pervert or not and if he can be sexually violent or not. So, even though I do not judge a woman for what she wears at all, I fear that women are more likely to catch the attention of a sexual predator by their attire. I am well aware that women in burkas also get raped and attacked. Yes, women have the right to dress as they please and dress in the attire that is most easy to jog and swim in. But, the people who rape and kill are sick people and I feel that these kinds of clothing trigger their violent fantasies and fixate them on some women.

A Southern elite with $650k+ in private education and she's only a pre-K "teacher" at age 34? Anyone in education knows pre-K isn't actually a teacher and you certainly don't need $650k in credentials to do it. Something very odd about all of this, especially how a gal like this even lets a man like him orbit her.

She has the money to do what she wants in life. You have to slave away at a job you don’t like to afford your middle-class lifestyle. Apples and oranges.

+1

She’s the grandchild of a billionaire. She gets to do exactly what she wants and WTF is wrong with some of you that you look down your noses at teachers? Good christ, the world needs more people like her.

He is not a billionaire. It’s a family business. It’s not the same as having a billion $ in the bank.

Doesn't matter. She had access to enough money that she could enjoy her life without worrying about billable hours and the types of high pressure jobs that can wear you down.

Everyone in my family works. A strong work ethic is encouraged.

We all have Dad's last name. He is from a middle American family. Mom always felt safer taking his name and having her kids have Dad's last name. Dad's last name is a common one...think Jones or Smith.

My sister is a big runner. She goes out running like every other woman runner in our town. My Mom was not crazy about her running in the area around Wharton (Univ of Pa) where my sister attended college. Mom grew up on Philly and thought Philly was very dangerous to be running in.

She could have volunteered.

Orrrrrr she could have worked. Which she did.

Hopefully, they are jogging, running, and walking in safe areas and/or with someone.

1) A slutty slutterson who doesn’t even wear her full red gown and white wimple while running

2) A wrinkled crone who is aging too quickly

4) A teacher but probably a lazy trust fund teacher who is taking a job from someone who really needs it but who is also lazy but also she shouldn’t be working

5) A selfish, slutty, stupid athlete who runs at the wrong time of day but also doesn’t even run fast enough to run away from someone who surprised her, maybe with a weapon, like geez girl why couldn’t you outsprint him

6) On drugs herself. We’re just guessing, but maybe probably

No one called her a “slut” except you. Weirdo.

I don’t think anyone criticized her attire; perfectly acceptable for running in the summer in the South. There were legitimate other concerns expressed in this thread - time of day, level of crime in Memphis, husband’s checkered past, etc.

One obnoxious old schoolmarm early in the thread bleated about how she iNcReAsEd hEr rIsK by wearing summer appropriate running clothes in the hot as hell South, but somehow PP has generalized it beyond that, because they’re not very bright.

Is the husband the same age or older/younger?

Goodness. How do you know she is a lovely person?

NP. So…less-than-lovely moms deserve to be kidnapped? Or less-than-lovely single women? Tell me exactly the caliber of person we should care about and hope is found safely, versus those we can just know got what they had coming to them?

You’re dim. No one said she is not lovely. They are questioning simple people saying “she seems lovely” when all they know about her is her appearance and her bank account.

The husband was home and called 911 when she didn’t return home. He said the 4am run was part of her routine.

NP. Why are you so eager to tear down a mom who was kidnapped?

I’m not. However, I am also not eager to anoint someone a good person simply because she is a white woman worth billions. There is no indication that she was either good or bad, but you know DCUM and their stereotypes.

…so…less-than-perfect and amazing people deserve to get kidnapped? That’s what you’re going with? Privileged but imperfect people = deserve to be kidnapped? Uh oh, 95% of DCUM, know that if something happens to you, we’ll tell your kids that you deserved it.

No one is saying that, at all, it then, you already know that.

Whether she's a preK or kindergarten teacher (I've heard both), i cannot believe you made such a critical condescending comment. We should be glad to have and encourage well-educated teachers at all grade levels. If she doesn't need a high-paying job, what's it to you? Many people love teaching young children.

She presumably didn’t meet her husband until her late 20s and didn’t have children until around age 30. So she’s been a pre-K teacher for 10 years (since age 23 or 24 after getting her master’s in Nashville), well before marriage and kids came into the picture, and hasn’t advanced? It’s a bit strange.

hardly. princess diana was a preschool teacher aide before marrying. definitely one of the paths of young women w/established family money who are basically waiting to get married.

You proved my point. Diana was a teenage pre-k teacher. Diana married at year 20. This year 34 gal has elite diploma, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and she’s doing a job she’s overqualified for.

Maybe she likes the job? If she was happy why did she have to chase the paycheck?

There is zero evidence that she’s not, yet people seem really bothered with the use of that word. Most pre-k teachers seem to be nicer than average so it doesn’t seem like a huge stretch.

I know what it is about social media oversharers but it communicates a certain level of instability, drama, and impulsivity. Of course most of these people don’t murder their spouses but imo it adds to the perception that they were highly emotional people in a volition relationship.

It doesn't appear to me to be a planned abduction with the spouse hiring this person to do it. If so, it wasn't planned very carefully. It took police very little time to track down the vehicle and the driver, as the driver left his shoes there at the scene and returned the vehicle to the house of the person to whom the vehicle was registered.

I am on the fence on whether or not the husband was involved. Lipstick Alley posters seem to think he is. They say he appears to be “tweaking” in that lawyer video and looks like a “scam artist.”

According to evidence, the perp allegedly waited 24 minutes in his truck for her to jog by. That certainly seems to lean towards this being far more than a random act.

But as you said, he left behind not shoes per se, but flip-flop slide-style sandals, which he apparently lost during the struggle to get her into the truck. Wearing slide sandals to perform this crime suggests crime of opportunity. Or maybe those slide sandals were just in the truck and fell out when he was struggling to put her in there?

Lipstick Alley is going to have an obvious bias. The suspect is not the right type.

Not true. Just came from there and most posters don’t think the husband was involved.

Are they just a bunch of conspiracy quacks then?

Nope, though there is a conspiracy theory subforum.
There is more variety in opinions on LSA than on DCUM at times depending on the topic.
DCUM’s readership seems more homogenous.

Sure. Or maybe there’s some there there. All of the pre-k teachers I know are fresh out of undergrad and do it for a year or two.
