I read all the books several times. Loved most of them. The first season was good and close enough to original story and realities regency period to be believable and yet updated and modern enough to add fun and sparkle.

Season 2 story line changes and the complete disregard for all Regency behavioral norms ruins the tale completely. The Indian angle is awful and makes no sense. The changes to the Pall Mall game made me want to cry - one if the funniest parts of the book(s) and they left those particular moves out except for a couple. Just an utterly disappointment.

Oh and Eloise is portrayed horrifically. She is dressed and coiffed as ugly as possible. Her “rebellion” is trite and far too modern. Eloise’s book was a bit dry but they have made her thoroughly unlikable in the tv show.

I have to agree.

I must have missed something, do the Sharma sisters have the same father? The eldest Kate is truly awful person though in the first couple episodes there was some chemistry and tension. But then episode after episode she was just rude and toxic and superficial in her assumptions. Only up to episode 5 or 6.

Eloise is also just acting rude towards everyone. I assume she dates the publisher guy or becomes a lesbian?

Did you watch the show?
Of course the Sharma sisters have the same father.
Kate is stern but “a truly awful person” is quite a reach.

Same father. Different mothers.

I just finished finally. Not reading the rest of the thread, initial impressions. For background so you know where I stand, I thought Daphne and the (super hot) Duke had no chemistry whatsoever and I felt season 1 was fun despite them not because of them.

Liked:
- chemistry between leads, so glad to see some actual chemistry between two romantic leads.
- complex relationship between the sisters
- super hot male lead
- love how Kate isn’t nice and simpering. She has fire.
- really loved Kate and Edwina as actresses and want to see more of them.
- thought Antony was a really good actor
- all the older women: the Queen, Portia, Violet, etc.
- the boxer who started the club. Wish we had seen more of him.
- heartbreaking scene with the Queen and her husband, and I loved how Edwina’s character shone through there.

Disliked:
- Penelope. I don’t understand why people like Penelope so much. She seems like a truly awful person, not a hero.
- Colin could not be more annoying if he tried. The thought of a Penelope and Colin season is horrifying tbh.
- The business of Whistledown does not make any sense. I can suspend disbelief; I can’t believe an enterprise as profitable as Whistledown is stored in all cash in a bedroom.
- They skimped on the amazing ballroom dance scenes and didn’t license as much music, so the hall scenes were more boring.
- The creepy Featherington cousin and Portia. They had no chemistry and it felt off and forced.
- I loved Antony and Kate but outside? For Pete’s sake. I can’t suspend disbelief that much.
- I don’t think the Queen would be so easily forgiving of Antony/Kate
- Why no gorgeous wedding scene between Antony and Kate??

Also I really hope Benedict turns out to be gay because having him settle into heterosexual matrimony will be disappointing.

That's it!!! That's what was missing for me! I loved all the music of Season 1 so much, and this one had maybe three songs total. That was the best part for me for the first season. I couldn't quite figure out what was missing for me, but this is definitely it.

When Lady Bridgerton was experiencing the difficult birth and there was a "choice" to be made, was she advocating for herself or for the baby?

Herself! As all moms should! And the male leads were erring toward baby saving.

The doctor was. Anthony chose his mother (by wanting to let her decide), whether because he felt that was right or because he didn't feel able to make the decision.

WAit, I thought she was advocating for the baby, because she didn't want to live in a world without her husband?? (Not that I agree with that choice but that's how I understood that scene).

No, she said that Edmund loved her so much he wouldn't have considered not saving her.

Gross. Just ewwwww. You have horrifically bad taste in men.

NP. Don’t yuck our yum! I think Anthony is super hot. I love a good, intense stare (in book/on tv/in moves). Creepy in real life but gets me every time on screen.

Me too! One of the best sexy stares? The Hot Priest from season 2 of “Fleabag”. Weak.in.the.knees.

God, the Hot Priest and Fleabag had the most amazing chemistry. Both couples thus far on this show have zero.

NP and I also found this scene a bit unclear. I thought that Lady Bridgerton was saying that the choice should be hers (not her husband's or her son's) and that Edmund would have let her decide.

Kate and Edwina were so different in complexion - one darker - that it was hard to believe they were sisters.

1. They were half-sisters.

2. I definitely have a friend in a mixed race marriage and her two kids are definitely different skin tones. And they are full siblings.
