Gaza war and College Campus Protests

It's not enough that Israel has killed 200+ journalists. They've now issued a hit list to assassinate major journalists in the north.

Children killed, men detained, families fleeing: Scenes of devastation in Israel's assault on northern Gaza
“In northern Gaza, people are just waiting to die,” said Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner-general of the U.N. agency supporting Palestinian refugees.

Children killed while rushing to flee their homes; families carrying whatever possessions they can as they navigate bomb-blasted roads; dozens of detained men lined up on a muddy hillside: These and other stark images have emerged from Israel's deadly offensive in northern Gaza in recent days.

Israel's renewed assault on the north of the Palestinian enclave has fueled mounting warnings from officials and aid groups around the world about "nonstop" Israeli strikes, forced displacement and possible famine.

“In northern Gaza, people are just waiting to die,” Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner-general of UNRWA, the United Nations’ agency supporting Palestinian refugees, said in a statement Tuesday, sounding the alarm on the dire humanitarian situation in the north. Already, he said, "the smell of death is everywhere."

Take issue with the terms “bigot” and “targeted” in your hypothetical, neither of which apply to anything written in the PP.

On the contrary, they apply directly to PP’s point.

Jews are being targeted by bigots in the US right now.

So are Muslims.

But by PP’s logic, that’s ok.

It’s not bigotry for the reason stated downstream - if you insist on demanding that Israel remain “the Jewish homeland”, and you unconditionally support Israel’s policies and actions, why would you expect that others wouldn’t lump you in with Israel and criticize you?

And second, stop it with the targeting bullshit. It’s a loaded term, you goddamned know it is, and if ANYONE targets others, it’s clearly Zionists (both in Israel with how they violate international law repeatedly to target sovereign nations, and here in America where Zionists have made doxxing others and trying to destroy their lives a sport).

Just stop with the victim card while actual victims are breathing their last breaths in Gaza and Lebanon and wherever else Israel decides to attack. It’s a gross look. We’re all aware of the murdered Palestinian child and the three college students shot. Where are you hiding the reports of Jewish deaths and gunshot attacks … ?

Exactly. Just F off …

Honestly it sickens me to see our government is funding this. I have a Harris lawn sign and I have never voted for anyone except a democrat but I’m considering Jill Stein. Luckily o life in a state where that’s not impacting any electoral votes but I am sickened.

Same here. I would almost take four years of Trump underscoring how truly awful US support of Israel is than Harris’s being assumed to be somewhat objective (when she’s clearly not) just because she’s a POC and a Democrat.

Stop justifying hatred and bigotry.

You know d*mn well that Jews and Muslims are being targeted in the US right now REGARDLESS of their political views.

Preserving the rights and welfare of Americans will always be my priority.

You want to prioritize (or “center” if you prefer the left’s lingo du jour) foreigners over Americans?

I think you’re profoundly misguided and that your loyalties are in entirely the wrong place.

Moreover, the two things are not mutually exclusive. It’s perfectly possible to decry to the gross anti-Semitism (and Islamophobia) AND ALSO object to Israel’s actions in Palestine.

For some reason, however, you seem remarkably unwilling to do both.

I wonder why…

You’re part of the problem. Your tone, your obnoxious insistence that Islamophobia is the “add on”, the “too” when you know full well that the attacks on Arabs and Muslims here in the U.S. are far more alarming than ANYTHING we have seen directed at Jews.

Just ugh. Go away. Await the pendulum swing. Do whatever you want. But don’t dare try to couch the atrocities in this world right now as being “anti-semitism … oh yeah, and some other bigotry, too”.

The situation in Gaza is horrifying! We are watching a genocide occur in real time. Somebody has to intervene. The U.S. isn’t going to step up. China? A “coalition of the willing”? The world can’t sit idly by and eat their popcorn while this is happening.

Let’s review.

One of us acknowledges the suffering of (and hatred directed towards) both Jews and Muslims in the US AND is critical of Israel.

The other denies the suffering their “enemy”, and defines “enemy” by religion and anyone who doesn’t entirely share their political views.

And you seriously contend that the former is the problem?

I’d suggest that every reasonable human being understands that it’s the latter group who perpetuate hatred and violence.

In short, sir or madam, it is quite clearly YOU and your ilk that are the problem.

Inside Joe Biden’s failing Israel policy

If Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s trip to Israel this week to call for a ceasefire is anything like his other ten visits in the past year, it might look something like this. Halfway through a fruitless two-hour negotiation with the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, an alarm signalling a rocket attack will ring. They will descend six floors to a bunker, where Blinken might catch a word with the Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant, who will restate his view that Israel is fighting “human animals and we are acting accordingly”.

Meanwhile, Blinken’s adviser will wander off into the bunker’s garage to find a phone signal so he can update the national security adviser Jake Sullivan on the Israelis’ intransigence. Back above ground, Netanyahu might say “not a drop” of aid will get into Gaza, or refuse requests for a ceasefire by passing notes to the Americans during a cabinet meeting. On the plane home Blinken will call President Joe Biden who might once again rail against “that son of a female dog), Bibi Netanyahu, he’s a bad guy. He’s a bad (bad word) guy!”

What is wrong with Biden? The Israelis are absolutely dependent on the US. At anytime the US could snap our fingers and Israel would be force to stop. Instead we have this.

Hatred and violence? I merely think you’re a scumbag to lump actual suffering in with the Mickey Mouse shit YOUR ilk tries to convince the rest of the world constitutes the REAL crisis …

If anti-semitism was an idiom, could it be anything but Chicken Little?
