Ivanka posted for her sister (Tiffany's) birthday. So, interesting (is that the word?) she chose this particular pic.

I think it’s fabulous and artistic.

I agree with you but not for the reasons I'm sure you're thinking.

The composition highlights the difference and disconnect between the two figures. At a quick glance, this is what I see:

The women is mature and in a fancy, black dress - the traditional color of mourning or seduction. The child is young, nearly naked and depicted in a style associated with innocence and love.
There appears to be no relationship between the woman and child. It's as if the child were photoshopped into it. There's no warmth, no connection between the two.
The woman is leaning one way, the child another. Again, this emphasizes their distance and lack of relationship
Even the woman's hand on the child's thigh, with it's splayed straight fingers, indicates no possession or care of the child. There is nothing keeping the child from sliding off the couch - the child isn't even sitting on her lap.
The coloring and position of the child indicates she's part of the furniture/decor. She blends into the background. She's an afterthought, a prop. The focus is on the main figure in black.
The child is sucking on a bottle from which no milk could flow with a vacant, distant look in her eyes. She is alone an isolated even though she is surrounded by a woman.

For me, the photo epitomizes the selfishness of Ivanka and how the Trump family treats Tiffany. So, yes, it is fabulous and artistic.

Your analysis is excellent. I would like to add that both Ivanka and Tiffany are presented as objects. Ivanka is arranged in half sleep and half naked. Her breasts are partially exposed. The viewer is invited to rouse or touch her or invade her space. The baby's legs are open and of course she is undressed.

This is not a snapshot. It is a posed and carefully produced photo. Everything is deliberate.

Ivanka is not half naked and her breasts are not partially exposed. They are fully covered. She is showing a sliver of skin at the belly. And the baby’s legs are not “open”. Do you expect a baby to sit with their legs crossed at the ankle? The baby is fine.

I think it is fabulous and artistic in roughly the same way ceramic tragedy and comedy masks and word art on people's walls are artistic. And I think, baby or no baby, it has a sort of Old West Kinky vibe (like those tourist photo attractions where you stick your head in a hole) and is a disgusting way to have a pic taken of yourself and your baby sister, much less give to her later as a present.

I love this coat. (Second to Pelosi’s coat. Love Max Mara!) I would only have the hem on this let out though.

The coat is lovely. Too bad it doesn't fit her at all like the designer intended...it just looks like she borrowed it from someone shorter.

rats. linked to the wrong one and can't edit it.

This one, must be past season:

Then did she have the seams for the pleats extended lower to make it like a dress? Maybe she really does her own "tailoring"???

Very Handmaid's Tale. I guess she's either Ofdonnysmallhands or Ofjaredjailbreak

I love this coat, too. Blue red is fabulous. It's so small on her, and i do not like when dress underneath hangs out from a coat. This may be a style, but i just don't prefer that look.

I prefer it so the dress and the coat have the same line as dress shorter than the coat can be a little “I’m naked under here!” (don’t jump on me - it’s just a convention like how men’s cuffs are supposed to be slightly visible under their suit jacket sleeves), but here the black and white dress has a flare or a ruffle and the coat doesn’t it and it makes my eye twitch.

I’m struggling to remember the early Trumpist months: did she make everything weird then too and I just didn’t notice?

+1 Not sure where the crazy "half naked" analysis came from.

No, I don't think that pic. is current but rather from 2018 when the bill was signed. Her face looks more normal there too.

Anonymous wrote:Why does she always wear a pillbox hat? If this is a religious garment, please excuse my ignorance. I used to live a neighborhood with lots of ultra orthodox and some Hasidic people, but they wore wigs or scarves/hats that covered a lot more of their hair.

Because she mistakenly thinks she is a modern day Jackie Kennedy and the Trump presidency is the second coming on Camelot.

Every time I hear of the "Trump dynasty" and their desire to fashion themselves after a Kennedy clan, I bite my tongue from saying:

"But doesn't he need to get shot first?"

Either way she looks much better than her plastic surgery-addict sister.
