| Anyone familiar with Atkins? I know a few people who have been wildly successful and am considering it, need to lost 25 lbs fast(brothers wedding). Exercising and calorie counting but thinking of going on it myself. Would love some feedback. |
| I remember this from the mid- 2000s. It worked but those I knew who did it suffered from very bad breath. |
| It works. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months last year, but you have to commit to watching carbs long term if you don't want to gain it back. |
| Definitely works, but not sustainable. |
I've done it before, multiple times. But each time I have gained it back, and then some. I wish it didn't happen that way.

It works. It also can help regulate blood sugar if that is an issue, like getting headaches in the afternoon if you don't eat.
Don't drink on the diet, you will get wasted on the amount you normally drink. The 1st 2 weeks are brutal. Don't go back to eating bread/rice/pasta after you have rid yourself of those carbs, otherwise you will gain it all back. |

so can anyone tell me a typcial day does this sound about right?
eggs with cheese/and or bacon omelet for breakfast chicken, fish or shrimp with salad and veges for lunch some kind of meat with cheese and veges for dinner is coffee ok? soda? what are good and allowable snacks? |
|
Watch the cheese, it can make it harder to lose the weight quickly.
Snacks: nuts-macadamia, almonds, vegetables, har boiled eggs Big thing is make sure you have appropriate foods/snacks ready and close by so that you don't go off plan Atkins allows splenda sweetener, so if you can find a soft drink with that in it you can have it, otherwise non sweetened beverages only google Aktins intake or even Whole 30 and you will get good lists of food to eat and to avoid. If you eat fats you will have fewer cravings in my experience, so avocado is your friend. |

DH does a modified version. He has reduced carbs, not completely eliminated them which seems to make it easier for him not to over indulge when feeling so deprived going cold turkey for carbs.
Be carfeful of the plateau and the feeling of sluggishness you may feel (around day 3). It's normal. If you can power through it, you'll find it becomes easier to stick it. You still have to exercise and eat well. DH has stocked up on protein and only eats select veggies. Do your homework OP. There are a ton of reviews and blogs out there with variations and experiences. |
| If you stick with lean protein and veggies you will lose weight. I add in cheese and nuts because otherwise my calorie intake would drop too low. I've never done strictly Atkins, just a modified version of it - I probably have way too many veggies in my diet for Atkins. I like Atkins frozen meals and Jimmy Dean omelets for quick/easy meals. |
