Once again, the discussion we had was about the Gunston Hagel Circle issue. I’ve been following that discussion. First time since a few months someone mentioned BRAC related to Hagel Circle. And I asked what BRAC stood for. Got the answer now you’re insulting me. You should take your arrogant attitude elsewhere and let us engage on the Hagel Circle issue. If you have some ideas on how to resolve the proposed scenario, please do. Otherwise, your not helping buddy |
How is that rude, when I requested someone to stop using abbreviations...? |
It is rude that you’re acting like this is a 1:1 conversation and making this thread all about you. Dozens or hundreds of parents have followed or contributed to this thread. |
Acronyms exist for a reason. Asking for a definition is fine, insisting that people don’t use the is silly. BRAC has been discussed in four or five topics, to include this one. It is pretty well known by most posters. |
It’s not wise to use abbreviations in these public threads because not everyone is aware of the entire conversation being had. Some people join in on the conversation and provide their inputs. Some people have been on longer than others. This forum is here and when someone asks what an abbreviation stands for, it becomes rude to state you should read the previous threads. There were hundreds if not thousands of inputs. To direct someone to read the previous messages to understand what an abbreviation stands for and calling them clueless is uncalled for. All that needed to be done is someone to give the answer and move on. We don’t need someone like you calling people clueless. |
We are not getting anywhere, let’s move on. |
If someone hadn't been following this thread, they'd be utterly confused. BRAC means "Base Realignment and Closure", always has, always will. Half the people in Fairfax work for DoD or contractors. Why the idiots in FCPS chose to use a reserved acronym is beyond me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_Realignment_and_Closure |
You got a big ego. Let’s move on… |
Maybe study up on septic systems before making suggestions like this. I don't have a bone to pick over there across the coynty, but I did grow up septic systems. The fewer kids the better for a school like Gunston. |
Adding 1000 kids to a school on a setic system would be a huge issue. Have you ever experienced a septic system? |
BRAC has been mentioned on almost every single page of all three 300+ page rezoning threads, along with separate dedicated BRAC threads that keep getting shut down. The 2nd rezoning thread and the beginning of this thread both have some reeally good historical summaries with links if you want to catch up on this 2 year process. BRAC is a really basic term that has been a huge part of the rezoning discussion for 2 years this spring. |
It is not wise to jump into the middle of a 2 year conversation with people who are helpfully providing information and research, just to tell those people to shut up because you haven't taken time to educate yourself on the topic. No one is going to stop using the term BRAC. BRAC is integral to the entire boundary process. The hundreds of people posting here are happy to generously get you up to speed, as long as you aren't insulting them and picking fights. |
+1 No one insulted the person until they claimed they had been following the discussion but did not know what BRAC stood for. The person was answered quickly and simply and then took offense that others were surprised he did not know what it stood for. Early on, I was surprised at BRAC as DH worked on base closure a long time ago. However, I also know that acronyms can mean different things and that this thread was not about base closure. |
| What are predictions by board member on how they will ultimately vote to approve or not approve boundary changes proposed by the superintendent: approve as proposed, approve after making amendments, not approve? |
Likely depends on the Board member and who the friends of the board member are. |
