There have always been these people. Gilead takes it to the extreme, but Serena could have been easily based on Phyllis Schafly, who famously thought women should be at home, just not her. Modern day equivalent is Abby Johnson, darling of the pro-life movement who may be lying about her entire experience. She teased on Twitter that she'd be happy to have her husband vote for their entire household. Does she actually think that? Probably not, but when you're a narcissist or have narcissistic tendencies you sure do like the attention. Also, it's been seven years now. The shock value has worn off. Gilead is obviously portraying the Handmaids as willing - something which really bugged me during the questioning of June. There was no choice. I don't mean to bring current events into it, but look at QAnon. It's unbelievable that people buy this stuff, but here we are. |
We are actually living the prequel right now. False calm for the next few years but it’s not over unfortunately. |
I think he'll be part of an attempted exchange of Hannah for Fred, but something will go wrong. I believe Serena is protected for now due to her pregnancy--on humanitarian grounds don't think they'd send a pregnant woman back even if she deserves it. |
But why would Canada even consider a Hannah exchange? Fred had a hand in mass atrocities. Canada isn’t going to do something that foolish just because June wants it. |
I think the would exchange Serena only, not Fred. |
I hope they take Serena's baby away as soon as it's born and I hope Jeanine gets to see. |
Because by all accounts June is the most valuable intelligence asset they've had? |
This proceeding is in front of the International Criminal Court. I realize it's a TV show, but I don't think the ICC doing a person for person prisoner exchange is a thing. Canada MIGHT do something like this, but I don't know why. Gilead and Canada aren't currently at war and neither Fred or Hannah are Canadian citizens. If the US took custody of Fred chances might be better, but one child (out of all the kidnapped children) for the greatest intelligence asset the USA has captured in this conflict seems incredibly unlikely. I don't think Hannah gets out this season. We end this season with the conclusion of what happens to Fred and Serena. And I'm predicting Serena turns on Fred and paints herself as a victim of Fred and Gilead. And that she gets away with it. For some reason I thought season 5 was going to be the last season, but I guess I made that up. I think it's very possible Season 5 has a jumping ahead in time to track with the Testaments. If not, then I think the show becomes a third standalone Handmaid's Tale adaptation. I'm here either way. |
Fred is the most valuable intelligence asset they have - he just hasn't talked yet. |
And he won't. The only way he lives after a return to Gilead is if he doesn't talk. |
Joseph Fiennes who plays Fred is looking OLD I think it is because he is so skinny |
Omg that is exactly what I thought! The last time I thought I can’t believe these people are doing this was when I saw all the Trump supporters are still cheering for him after last for years, election, January 6. Same ass feeling. |
I think somehow there may end up being an exchange of Serena’s baby into Gilead, in order to get Hannah out. |
+1. And I found it very disturbing. |
+2. Same and the feeling has stayed with me. |
