Agree. He will die saving, or trying to save, Hannah. |
He has deemed Lydia a sadist (her "hobby" lol), and effectively gave her Janine as a masochistic toy to occupy herself. Looks like she'll get Mrs. Keen to toy with as well. His interest is her usefulness to him, has no regard for Janine imo since she has caused too much trouble. |
Someone used the word deplorable at the beginning of the episode. They were making a point about our current Trump psychos choosing fascism and authoritarianism, cheering for it. |
I was going to say that I think he's kind of a sociopath, but I actually think he operates by a totally different code than most people. Number one is saving his skin. Number two is seeing his economic theories realized. Third is sticking it to the parts of Gilead that don't affect his economic theories and that he doesn't like. His interaction with Lydia fits into box three IMO. I think he knows that Lydia won't be able to harm or torture Janine. Maybe a little of box one. Seems like he's the commander now in charge of the Handmaid program, so he needs Lydia to get it/keep it together. |
I think we are in for another twist here. This hearing was to basically indict Fred. Not Fred and Serena. Fred. I think at the end of this Serena will try to save herself by claiming asylum/that she's just another victim of Gilead because I do think Fred is going down. They have been setting this up the whole season and part of the last. And that puts June in a very conflicted position. She tried to throw a bone to Serena in the hearing with the whole reading/finger thing. It really reminds me of reading about the apartheid system in some ways. Pitting all the underclasses against each other to maintain minority rule. |
I think they will trade Hannah for Fred and Serena. |
Really? One girl for a war criminal/2 rapists? |
And/or June. There’s another season of this show to go, so if Hannah winds up in Canada this year, what the heck is season five going to be about, unless Iune is back in Gilead? |
Could be June too. This season is really slow. Not impressed. |
This would make the storyline about Emily’s aunt make sense. They’re setting us up to think about whether or not Aunt’s can repent and how. |
I agree, she barely knows Nichole and it’s further complicated by the face she knows Waterford might be the biological father. Giving birth to a baby is one thing but raising one to 4 or whatever it was and having her ripped away is quite another |
This mostly. He gets the best, funniest lines. He is mercurial. We can't pin down who he is because he is the baddest MF of them all, just not the most powerful of them all. |
Probably, but a friend suggested that they are all likely desperately infertile people who also want to be “blessed” like Serena and Fred. |
At least she didn’t rape him this episode. I was so relieved that he was able to stop her. |
I came into the last couple of episodes with a meh opinion of Luke, but he has improved in my eyes. At least he is somewhat patient with June and is tolerating the fallout from her/their trauma. I’m really not feeling June with either Luke or Nick long term, tbh. Doesn’t she at some point need to come to grips with the fact that Nick has been a party to atrocities, even if he did save her? Maybe he has been a reluctant participant, maybe he is working against Gilead in the long run, but- he has never explicitly said anything like that to her. His motives are not clearly good. |
