| Pancakes aren’t good. Waffles are a tiny bit better because they at least have texture, but both are really just a vehicle for butter and syrup. |
Well this is disappointing. I guess I wanted you to either really love it, or really hate it. |
| Cheese peanut butter tortilla seems sort of disgusting to me. Like a bologna and mayo sandwich. |
I would guess that's why it's in the "controversial food opinion thread." If it sounded good to most people, there would be no controversy. |

Ok.NP, but I read all 33 pages.
The peanut butter-cheese-tortilla thing is delicious. I've been eating it for years. But, NO HEAT. That was the mistake. You use a room-temp, flour tortilla. (No corn.) A chunk of thick-sliced, very sharp cheddar. And a glob of real peanut butter (not the kind that's half oil). And here's a twist - also good if you substitute tortilla for American bread or apples (apple-peanut butter-cheese). And sushi is gross. Yes, even California rolls. Yes, even the kind without seaweed. It's disgusting. All of it. |
When you say real pb, not half oil... do you mean to use traditional Jif/Skippy (which texturally isn’t oily) or to use natural pb (which separates and appears oily? |
This! GMOs just be saving lives in Africa nbd. |
PP here. Yes. Some peanut butters (Jif and Skippy) are whipped with hydrogenated oils. You don't need to get organic or anything, but the kind with oil tend to have less peanut content. You want at least 90% peanuts and no added sugar. Not for health reasons or whatever, but because the peanut flavor needs to be strong enough to balance the sharp cheddar. https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2016/06/natural-peanut-butter/488237/ |
| Baked goods (muffins, cakes) made with oil are not yummy and moist. They are just oily. Oily and moist are totally different mouthfeels. Yuck. Bake with butter or don’t bake. |
Sounds like you're using too much or the wrong kind of oil. Try light olive oil. |
Pretty much everything is genetically modified at this point - including wine! |
Baking with olive oil? No. It's too strongly flavor. |
Yes, which is why I said "light olive oil". https://www.cooksillustrated.com/how_tos/5711-light-olive-oil |
Blech. Do not bake with olive oil. |
| It's not the food's fault that you're fat. |
