And also to show Dems who might decide to stay home for another vote, that there's a lot at stake - and they need to vote D to stop this from happening again

Yup. It's over. Nice run while we had it. What we'd get? 243 years?

Hopefully whatever comes next is able to fight corruption better than the system we had.

For the love of God, stay down. For your own good, Man/Woman! You lost the election perhaps due the very same piss poor judgment you are exhibiting here. I don't know, I'm just guessing here.

2018 would like a word

Oh please, 2018 was a symphony of "there is no crisis at the border" which literally resulted in a crisis at the border! You are not fit to run and in this environment, THAT is saying something.

2018 was a referendum on the GOP clusterfck

And it's interesting that you see the crisis that happened on Trump's watch while Republicans were in charge of every branch of government is somehow a referendum on Democrats. But that's Trumpster logic for ya, I suppose.

And then you lost North Carolina due to the AA vote....

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/10/us/politics/north-carolina-special-election.html

Dan Bishop, a Republican state senator, scored a narrow victory on Tuesday in a special House election in North Carolina that demonstrated President Trump’s appeal with his political base but also highlighted his party’s deepening unpopularity with suburban voters.

Mr. Bishop defeated Dan McCready, a moderate Democrat, one day after Mr. Trump made a full-throated plea for support for the Republican at a rally on the conservative end of a Charlotte-to-Fayetteville district, which the president carried by nearly 12 points in 2016.

With most votes counted on Tuesday night, Mr. Bishop was ahead by about two percentage points, according to The Associated Press.

The fierce fight for the Ninth Congressional District also brought to an end a tortured political drama: The 2018 midterm race for the seat, in which Mr. McCready barely lost against a different Republican, was in question for months because of evidence of election fraud on the G.O.P. side. The election was finally thrown out, an embarrassing conclusion for state Republicans who had carved the lines of the deeply red district.

Now, as Mr. Trump heads into a re-election year, the close outcome in a district that hasn’t been held by Democrats since the 1960s confirmed once more that he energizes the left and some independents to fight against him just as much as he inspires Republicans to fight for him. In 2018, Democratic candidates flipped several G.O.P.-held House seats in districts that Mr. Trump had won, a sign of distaste among moderate and suburban voters who reluctantly backed him in 2016.

And that trend shows no sign of abating: on Tuesday, Mr. McCready actually performed better in the district’s Charlotte suburbs than he did when he lost by a smaller overall margin last year.

For Democrats looking ahead to 2020, those midterm results and Mr. Bishop’s slim margin in a conservative seat offer more evidence that Mr. Trump could face trouble in states such as North Carolina, which is Republican-leaning but filled with the sort of college-educated voters who have grown uneasy with the president.

Maybe your crystal ball is better than mine but I don't see anything that should make you as cocky as you are about 2020.

I'm not cocky either but jesus, your bluster makes you sound stupid.

This is the methodology of the liberals.
And, you want more power? I'll do everything I can to prevent Democrats from gaining any more power. Ever.

You sure are doing your damndest at getting people, even reluctant voters, to vote for Trump again.
Reasonable people want to have nothing to do with the people who make it a game to destroy a man's name and reputation for sport. You all are sick.

I don’t want power. I just want non-corrupt, non-assholes (even if I don’t agree with them!). Maybe that’s the difference - you will go to ANY length to “win”. Even forgoing truth, ethics, and laws.

No surprise. The offensive tweet that the NYTimes was forced to delete on Sunday was written by one of the authors of the book coming out tomorrow - Robin Pogrebin.

According to a Times insider familiar with the matter, Pogrebin wrote the offensive tweet, which should have been vetted before it was posted.

“It was really neglectful,” the insider said of the paper’s overall handling. “There were serious errors made along the way.”

This is a pretty damning assessment of the NYTimes and their botched story.
Will anyone be held accountable? Doubtful.

Accountable? Who is held accountable for anything these days. Haven’t your heard? Anything goes.

https://thefederalist.com/2019/09/15/new-book-christine-blasey-fords-friend-leland-keyser-doesnt-believe/

The authors also acknowledge what had previously been reported in “Justice on Trial,” about the efforts of mutual friends to get her to change her testimony to be more supportive of Blasey Ford. The reporters say that some of Blasey Ford’s friends “had grown frustrated with Keyser. Her comments about the alleged Kavanaugh incident had been too limited, some of them felt, and did not help their friend’s case. Surely, given what a close friend Keyser had been, she could say more to substantiate Ford’s testimony and general veracity, even if she could not corroborate Ford’s more specific memories.”

A group text was formed in which friends such as Cheryl Amitay and Lulu Gonella discussed how to get her to say something more helpful to the cause. An unnamed man on the text suggested that they defame her as an addict. Keyser has been in recovery for some time, as her friends know and as has previously been reported.

Amitay answered, “Leland is a major stumbling block.” While asserting she didn’t want her to make anything up out of whole cloth, she offered ideas for things that could sound supportive of Ford’s story, such as that she’d been in similar situations with Blasey Ford that summer.

“I was told behind the scenes that certain things could be spread about me if I didn’t comply,” Keyser told the reporters, a stunning admission of the pressure to which she was subjected to by Blasey Ford’s allies.

As previously reported in “Justice on Trial,” Keyser continues to think about the story in which she was supposed to have played a part. She has both “logistical and character-driven” problems with it. Focusing on one of the angles that many women had trouble believing, she says, “It would be impossible for me to be the only girl at a get-together with three guys, have her leave, and then not figure out how she’s going to get home.”

And then, just before the book ends, the reporters drop a bombshell:

We spoke multiple times to Keyser, who also said that she didn’t recall that get-together or any others like it. In fact, she challenged Ford’s accuracy. “I don’t have any confidence in the story.”

This just makes me sick. What lengths these liberals will go to in order to push a fake story to attempt to destroy the reputation of a wonderful person. It is just sickening.

It just makes me sick how corrupt Republicans squash investigations, don't turn over documents to Congress, don't show up when subpoenaed . . . as another pp said "anything goes" thanks to the occupant of the White House.

You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Nope, she does not.

This is straight libel.

If I faced being hounded by a pack of insane right wing gun nuts and threatened by people in the highest levels of the Government, I wouldn’t ‘remember’ either. You know as well as I do that this is what would happen if this woman came forward. You people will go to any lengths to protect a lawless President, but you’re more than happy to destroy someone who just wants to tell the truth.

Everyone who "just wants to tell the truth" had years and years and years and years to do so. Wouldn't it have been much easier long ago, when Kavanaugh was not a SCOTUS nominee, to come forward? Then the "insane right wing gun nuts" wouldn't have been an issue. They only want to "tell the truth" now, when it serves their (or others) political interests. If he was never nominated, these people would have been perfectly fine lettting him "get away" with all of this terrible behavior.

Pathetic.

+1000.

These people are still seething about the fact that their gal Balsey-Ford was such a bomb. She was supposed to deliver, and instead she turns into a whining 12-year-old when put on the hotseat. (The facts, of course, are irrelevant. She was supposed to be so believable.) Now what?

We have to keep digging... surely someone, somewhere saw SOMETHING. I mean... I was at college parties in the '80s. I saw a LOT of drinking and all kinds of other mischief that would be very embarrassing today, were names and pictures to surface. If I think really, really hard, I can probably comprehend that one of those parties might have been at Yale... after all, I did go to another school in that part of the world.

Now let's see... there were so many people there, it's certainly possible that Brett Kavanaugh was one of them. I hung out at frat parties, he was in a fraternity.. that's a match, right?

Does anyone have contact information for the New York Times? I think I'm on to something.

The New York Times is TRASH. It is so sad that it’s come to this but they have no redeeming value at all.

Nope. And we never will.

Ah, one false narrative blown out of the water, so you have to fall back on the other. Too funny (and predictable).

By all means, enlighten us. Who paid his debts?
