Won't we all....won't we all. They say there is no ROI in lacrosse and they (whoever they are) are correct.
|
The ROI is your kid has fun, learns to play well, and learns to work as part of a team. |
I think you went to Up with People concerts in your childhood...
...and maybe they shouldn't keep score and just play for fun. |
| In its heyday, VLC was THE DMV Club on the Rise. We were rooting for them. Nice dudes who weren’t money grubbers who could get your kid good enough and looked at enough to land some amazing college offers. Now, it’s a public school heavy, far into the exburbs (Culpeper, WtF) club, tempted by greed (just look at their social media for all these bogus clinics!)and is therefore losing its appeal to colleges that feast on DMV smart and wealthy kids. I predict VLC will fold within 5 years, or form some sort of alliance with Cavs, Evergreen or the like in order to survive. That sound you hear is Cab cackling....... |
I did not know you Cackle Cab but your post is pathetic. Club is bigger now than ever. |
| It’s also funny how this clown posted his rant then went to the Next Level page and complimented it literally 1 minute later. |
Couldn't agree more. Not all the VLC teams are barn burners but they are teaching quality lacrosse and many of their teams are competing with the perennial top teams. The coaches are experienced, connected and also good guys. You'll see the dividends from them starting with the younger ages in time. As for clinics, they've run Skillz n Drillz for a number of years and they make it very clear that it is for ALL kids not just VLC kids. If the only stone you can throw at VLC is that they have public school kids that is pretty weak. If you look at the Top 20 Virginia high school teams you'll see the majority are public schools. https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/highschool/state/VA/19 Some of the private schools may have great concentrations of athletes and be able to turn out quality teams but the public schools with their volumes of available students are certainly catching up. Note, SSSAS shows up in Maryland for some reason. And yes I know Landon, Bullis, Gonzaga, etc are all part of the DMV available kids but generalities like public school kids are somehow less than what colleges want (when the majority of ALL students in college are from public schools) is just silly. |
| Also silly is the idea that the club makes the kid when it is really the other way around |
Remarkably stupid comment. "Now, it’s a public school heavy" -- what is that even supposed to mean? "far into the exburbs (Culpeper, WtF)" -- they practice at GMU, genius. "tempted by greed (just look at their social media for all these bogus clinics!)" -- has your kid attended a clinic? if not, how do you know it's bogus? " losing its appeal to colleges that feast on DMV smart and wealthy kids." -- evidence? "I predict VLC will fold within 5 years, or form some sort of alliance with Cavs, Evergreen" -- LOL I wish we could put some money on that prediction. "That sound you hear is Cab cackling" -- so wait, the parents who are disgusted by the supposed greed of VLC will defect to MadLax? Crack kills, idiot. |
Getting better so you can win is also part of the fun, numbnuts. |
VLC is becoming more and more a Loudon and west of Loudon club. Problem with that is that the best talent is from close in public schools and, at least for now, the privates. Not sure why this is happening as both ML and BW are losing market share as well. |
| Wrong and wrong. The best public school and private school talent in N.VA is in Loudoun. PVI will be in Loudoun next year but the kids are already living in Loudoun. However VLC is also getting lots of Fairfax kids as well. |
| And PW county has some good players too that could go to PVI. |
The problem with this statement is that so long as public schools keep the policy of providing super seniority to public school employees first, they will never get the best coaches and the best players won't enroll. A majority of the best kids will enroll in privates to get better coaching and exposure. |
| Sometimes the best kids have parents that can’t or choose not to pay the private school tuition. The clubs help to provide another alternative |
