Bad take. People literally are entitled to have an opinion |
Having an opinion is different than action. People bullying PTAs or trying to be the great White Savior as a way to change the demographics of their own schools is not okay. If you are compliant about FARMS rates at your new schooo, you are classist. If you are complaining about the EML rates at your new school you are xenophobic. If you are claiming you were promised “parity” with any other schooo you are likely racist. |
Hahaha! Joke’s on all of you. Taylor’s data shows the FARMs rate of the new WH to be super high in 5-10-15 years. |
| WJ not WH |
Say it louder for the people in the back! Let’s bus the wealthy white families to Wheaton to satisfy their complaints. |
Because WJ PTA is in charge?!? |
Look at the number of foreclosed developments. Look at the declining birth rates. Increase in dwelling unites does not equal increases in schooo age children, and def not public school. MoCo has high outmigration of the wealthiest folks and all schools will have high FaRMS by 20232. And ES boundaries are moot as they are about to change. I also predict several MS will close. Look how many are predicted to be at 50 and 60 something percent capacity |
It will not be an arts school. There will be 30-60 kids per grade taking the MCPS prescribed classes for their BS music program. It’s no different than the Churchill and Wootton kids thy take an ensemble each year of HS except that they will be guaranteed an AP music theory class. Did you know that 93% of STEM grads report music training versus 34% of average adults? Or are you paying attention to how poor the job market is for STEM grads?!? |
Then advocate for MCPS to adopt the policies and consequences recommended in OLO Report 2026-2 and stop complaining about schooo boundaries. Unless you have a real issue with travel time, complaining about the boundaries is just pointing out how inequitable the system is. If you don’t try to fix it you are part of the problem! |
That’s not what the petition creator said to me. She was flippant about which programs would be housed at Woodward. I tried to get her to understand that programs were still malleable if you look at the MCPS timeline with regards to interest surveys. The boundaries have to be done now as the new buildings will be ready for fall 2027. I predict the only programs families are interested in are STEM, humanities, Perfirming arts, and middle college. The sad part is that our VA counterparts pay less taxes and get decent offerings in all of these content areas at every Hs. |
Exactly! These people need to stop being the great white savior! |
It’s racist, classist and xenophobic to even allow those parents to comment at BOE meetings. |
The petition started by Diana Avram. The public comments by Diana and the Farmland realtor. The cold calls and other aversive “outreach” to VM and WW families under the guise of “partita between schools”. Watch for yourself around the 1:00 and 1:12 mark. It’s disgusting. https://mcpsmd.new.swagit.com/videos/375719 |
That’s an MCPS problem. Why not move all grades in 2027? Plenty of other large districts do it and it turns out fine. You see the Blair magnet guy was already bumped to CO to manage the new programs. I bet the best principals will get moved to Woodward and Crown/Wootton |
Representing a concern is different than convincing a a majority minority community why they should want to move to a majority white community. Representing a concern about FARMS, EML and MPDU rates is racist, classist and xenophobic |
