I already know I’m non-essential and am concerned that what they’re going to do is hand all non-essentials a preliminary RIF notice putting you on notice that you could be RIFd. There’s no way they know right now who will actually be RIFd since those lists aren’t complete yet but they could determine during the shutdown period. This is so depressing.

Anyone hearing their companies that have contracts potentially halted with shutdown may offer furloughs instead of firing them in hopes the contracts come in?

Sounds like they will take whatever position he agrees to so he might as well be there. Might also just be for show so he can claim he tried, who knows.
