Official Kamala Harris VP Thread

My guess is down to Bashear and Kelly.

I lean slightly more to Bashear because we seem to like Governors.

What’s the timeline for this? Do they need a name before the 7th?

I think they do, in order to get on the ballot in Ohio. But I’m not sure. Anyone know the answer to this?

I hope it’s Kelly. Kentucky isn’t going to turn blue but Arizona might have a better chance.

Kelly seem like a no brainer.

Navy captain, combat pilot, astronaut and senator.
Temperament and personality appeal in the swing states.
His wife is former Rep. Gabby Giffords, a gun violence survivor (and Jewish). Which is a +2 for swing voters in the swing states.
Comes with his own body double which shoud spawn all sorts of fun conspiracy theories.
Arizona has a Dem Governor so it won't mess up the Senate if Tester and Brown get re-elected.

His main downside is that he's boring. But this is 2024 and the opponent is a narcissistic publicity hound. Boring is a virtue

Did I mention that he's a freaking astronaut?

Kelly has a great resume, no doubt about it. Is there a risk that he would take attention away from Harris? You don’t want the VP to outshine the person at the top of the ticket.

Kelly is great. We could impeach Kamala day one.

So if Kamala screws up does here VP candidate become the Dem candidate for President?

That’s the thing about Kelly. He has a great resume, yet everyone calls him too boring. He’s got the perfect level of bland charisma to round out the ticket without overshadowing Harris.

He would outshine her.

In this election that is not a risk and might even be a good thing because they appeal to different groups of voters.

Plus she has too much baggage from her association with Biden. I wish another candidate would step up that we can get behind. I really don't like that the first woman president may potentially get there by default. Ugh

Come on. Do you seriously not think she’s smart? You don’t have to like her but attacking her intelligence is silly.

She may be smart. But she has been the butt of so many poor performances on the world stage. Everyone voting for Biden knew she would have to become president eventually as no way he could finish a full 4 years. She is not liked and he even thought of replacing her o the ticket in late 2023 as she was a drag on his numbers.

Surely there is someone else? However yo will see every democrat praise how amazing she is in the surface to help her election, but these were the same democrats who said she would have no chance at beating trump and that is why until recently, Biden was staying in. He saw poll numbers that showed Harris doing poorly.

But sure, let’s trust all the Dems saying how amazing she is. Same ones up until 4 weeks ago were saying Biden is mentally fit, energetic, in his way to beating Trump. How did that work out?.

I didn't care for her in '19 and '20, but there were so many good candidates and I was with another. She's grown tremendously. Her remarks to the campaign staff were awesome. She has not put a foot wrong since this was announced.

+1 And she didn’t put a foot wrong since Biden’s debate performance either, for three weeks of angst and turmoil and leaks out the wazoo which must have been very difficult.

Not if you aren’t seen or heard from publicly.

Too bad Trump never learned the saying “it’s better to keep quiet and be thought a fool…..”

Why was Kamala kept quiet for 3 plus years?

It’s not her problem if you have selective hearing and memory.

It actually is her problem if that’s how voters perceive her tenure.

She’s not concerned with MAGAS.

You may be surprised to learn that the spectrum of the American electorate contains some middle ground.

Organized labor hates Mark Kelly
pro Palestinian left despises Josh Shapiro

To me it will be Bashear or perhaps Walz as a dark horse choice.

How will she do that, since she will not be a member of the legislative body, and will not have the ability to control state laws either?

Anonymous wrote:I like Kelly a lot, but will he create excitement that will draw people to the polls? I wonder if Bashear will be more.effective.

I also worry about using that senate seat.

Bashear bombed on Morning Joe. Too green, too nervous. He won’t bring any EC votes and leaves the poor people of KY of the one bulwark they have against the fascist GOP.

I like Cooper. He has very strong governing experience with the fascist NCGOP. He’s never lost an election and good relationship with Harris from time they were AGs. He would carry NC, really beloved.

Not to be alarmist but Kamala will have a target on her back from all the racist crazies Trump has unleashed and obviously SS isn’t doing their job. We need someone who knows how to govern, not just vote for legislation.
