Lankford is now going to vote against his own bill. What this party won’t do for Trump! Unbelievable.

Republicans: We must fix the border now!
Also Republicans: The border is fine until January 2025.

Republicans: This bipartisan bill, which is more than we could have ever hoped for under a Dem president, is terrible. We don't need new legislation - we just need the president to enforce the existing laws.
Also Republicans: We really, really need to pass HR 2 into law.

They should be careful what they wish for - if Trump wins Senate Dems won't allow anything nearly this conservative to reach his desk. We'll be back to him signing executive orders that get smacked down by the courts.

We won’t have a functioning judiciary if the GOP regains power.

I am sure he's frightened of the death threats he's getting.

Ah, a death-threat-ocracy. What a time to be alive.

I guess we won't hear much about the border now from the right wing echo chamber.

The “find out” phase makes them so shy and retiring, and after they spent so much time whipping the base into a frenzy it seems rather touching.

Fascism hasn’t even fully arrived, but the GOP has so primed their supporters to be fascist and to think and act that way that this is where they are already. And they’re living in fear.

Maybe but death threats have been happening for years! It’s just part of the job these days.

Meanwhile, the GOP in the Senate are going to vote no on this. So basically the GOP is killing the border bill (so, not an emergency it seems) and, they are killing the Ukraine aid, which means Russia will be making major advances in Ukraine this spring and summer.

and somehow, this will all be blamed on Biden.

well- Blinken and Biden did an end run to get aid to Israel twice- why cant they do the same for Ukraine? also, Ukraine is primarily the EU's problem, we should be supporting, they should tell their citizens they cant afford - universal healthcare, parental leave, sick leave, 6 weeks of mandatory vacation b/c they have to buy bombs , guns, tanks etc to ward off Russia. Our government has no issue telling us that for near 80 years- maybe its our turn to have parental leave, fully funded childcare and k-12 education, free trade training programs, universal healthcare (PS I am a youngish Biden Voter) we need meaningful immigration reform and new infrastructure and a whole host of things. I travel a lot, am pretty wealthy and I am furious at how much we sacrifice so that Europeans and asians can have a better life than we do. we are well into the new century, let them stand on their own feet, Its good to support others but not at the expense of your own and we have been doing that for decades now.

The GOP are basically telling the American people that in fact, the border is not in crisis.

I guess I will believe them.

GOP is going to own this lack of action every day between now and November

They can try to spin it, but the video soundbites from people like Lankford and Ronmey will be played in every Dem commercial putting the onus on Trump and the MAGAs.

And they will be right.

I don't really understand the strategy here for the GOP, but f Trump wants to own it, then great!

+1

Make up your minds Republicans! Is the situation urgent, or can it wait until next January? It can’t be both. They are mutually exclusive.
