Blatant antisemitism in Philly.

And, why??? Why “protest” like this in the US? What are they hoping to accomplish?

They threaten the owner of a deli??????

This has been going on since early November in Philadelphia. Jewish businesses targeted by Pro-Palestine/Anti-Israeli groups for no other reason than the owner of the business is Jewish. In some cases, the owners are fairly secular and certainly not doing business on the basis of religion. They are just Jewish-owned businesses.

This WaPo article describes the hate these Jewish businesses have endured:

Dr. Darren Klugman, a doctor at Johns Hopkins hospital, was placed on leave after several anti-Palestinian tweets, including calling them "bloodthirsty morally depraved animals".

This guy should be fired. He is the pediatric cardiac critical care director. Any Palestinian or Arab child would not be comfortable being treated by him.

Still no update on the investigation of the murder of Dr. Talat Jehan Khan in Texas in October. The family is unhappy with the speed of the investigation.

“In speaking with the family and the community at large, we are disappointed with the pace of this investigation,” Floyd said. “The timing of Dr. Talat Khan’s murder, along with the increased Islamophobia and bigotry sweeping through the country, require answers, and the family has yet to see that from Montgomery County.”

She was randomly attacked and stabbed to death while sitting on a bench outside her apartment building.

Why not? It's not like he's the bloodthirsty morally depraved animal.

I'm neither Palestinian nor Arab (nor Muslim) and I would also not be comfortable being treated by this weirdo troglodyte.

He should certainly be fired, no argument from this liberal Jew who supports Israel's right to exist.

These three kids were walking down the street speaking Arabic and wearing that scarf not even two months after the attack. I mean, what did they think could happen when antagonizing people? It’s like a black guy wearing gang colors to KKK meeting. Or a Democrat-emblazoned campaign bus driving down the highways in Texas. Or a Jewish man wearing the yarmulke and walking into a Nazi rally AFTER Kristallnacht.
If you don’t want people to do stupid things that attack you, then don’t do things that put yourself in front of them and inflame them. As President Bush’s press secretary advised after 9/11, know enough to watch what you do, watch what you say. People are emotional and will lash out; you don’t want to be the target when that happens.

Wow. Did it occur to you that we might not want to live in a country where you couldn’t walk down the street speaking Arabic? Or ride a campaign bus for one of the two major parties in the country?

What about being a kid wearing a MAGA hat?
Asking for a friend.

The presidents of
@Harvard
,
@MIT
, and
@Penn
were all asked the following question under oath at today’s congressional hearing on antisemitism:

Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate [your university’s] code of conduct or rules regarding bullying or harassment?

The answers they gave reflect the profound moral bankruptcy of Presidents Gay, Magill and Kornbluth.

Representative
@EliseStefanik
was so shocked with the answers that she asked each of them the same question over and over again, and they gave the same answers over and over again.

In short, they said:

It ‘depends on the context’ and ‘whether the speech turns into conduct,’ that is, actually killing Jews.

This could be the most extraordinary testimony ever elicited in the Congress, certainly on the topic of genocide, which to remind us all is:

“the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group”

The presidents’ answers reflect the profound educational, moral and ethical failures that pervade certain of our elite educational institutions due in large part to their failed leadership.

Don’t take my word for it.

You must watch the following three minutes. By the end, you will be where I am.

They must all resign in disgrace.

If a CEO of one of our companies gave a similar answer, he or she would be toast within the hour.

Why has antisemitism exploded on campus and around the world?

Because of leaders like Presidents Gay, Magill and Kornbluth who believe genocide depends on the context.

To think that these are the leaders of Ivy League institutions that are charged with the responsibility to educate our best and brightest.

On the bright side, our congressional leaders deserve accolades for showing tremendous leadership and moral clarity in their statements, by the questions they asked, and the respectfulness with which they conducted the hearing.

It was a masterclass of how our government and democracy should operate.

If you have time, please watch the entire hearing. Throughout the hearing, the three behaved like hostile witnesses, exhibiting a profound disdain for the Congress with their smiles and smirks, and their outright refusal to answer basic questions with a yes or no answer.

From Gabby Deutsche at Jewish Insider: “Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro calls Penn president Magill's equivocation on the Hill—refusing to say if calls for genocide against Jews violates the school's code of conduct—"unacceptable" and "failed leadership."

He said the Penn board must decide whether this represents the school's "values."

Why should he be fired for saying the truth? Have we already forgotten 10/7? Or do we simply want to ruin his life because he is a proud Jew ready to fight for his people’s existence?

Their responses were appalling, sure. Absolutely indefensible. There is nothing to debate in this matter.

However, Ackman’s restatement of the genocide definition once more highlights the FACT that, unequivocally, what’s occurring in Gaza right now is a genocide. The State of Israel need not call a press conference to officially announce their intention to kill a large number of people from the Palestinian ethnic group with the aim of destroying that group. That is exactly what’s happening. That is exactly what they are doing, and have been doing for the past 75 years. This genocide has been an essential priority of the Zionist movement since its inception.

Dehumanizing the Palestinians is part of the process. Revisionist history disputing their indigenous status in the region is part of the process. Attacking and attempting to marginalize anyone who questions the actions or agenda of the Zionist movement as “anti-Semitic” is part of the process. And of course, ethnically cleansing the immediate region by killing or displacing the Palestinian people is part of the process.

The rate of related hate crimes committed in the U.S. is unlikely to have any effect on American foreign policy, though, so I guess we’re all resigned to witness this genocide unfold further in real time. A genocide somewhat unique in that the weapons being used to facilitate it are U.S. weapons, which to some would pretty clearly render us complicit.
