There are several tweets in the last month referencing men who cheat, and then there is a link to a woman telling a man how she would leave him if he cheated on her. "Let me tell you something, you cheat? I'm not even finna be on no rah-dah-dadalala, I'm going to be so player ... I'm going to literally leave in the middle of the night, like a thief in the night. I'm telling you, you gonna come home one day and think everything is g-dd-mn good, and my sh-t is gonna be gone. Youre never gonna be able to locate me." Starts 0:34/1:13

Man, that's eerie. That's from about 5 days before she disappeared.

Wow, this horrible grammar and trying to go to college to be a nurse at 25 what has she been doing for the last 7 years, makes you wonder what the real story is with her mental health!! with this recent mental health episode she shouldn't be working near anyone let alone in care of others as a nurse. This should be noted and barr her from health care jobs.

She has a BA in psychology, probably just accustomed to code-switching in personal vs. professional speech. Not at all uncommon in the Black community. If it turns out to have been a hoax, or a mental health breakdown of some sort, a nursing career will be unlikely.

Multiple personalities?

Nah, it’s like people aren’t cultured at all but put a thin veneer of education/good manners for when they are at work? That’s what it is

That is not what code switching is.

And also, the lady in the video is not Carlee…

Some folks will be grateful that this board is anonymous, otherwise they’d be eating a ton of crow.

I hope she’s willing to talk one day. I need to know what happened.

No one would be “eating crow.” It’s an internet discussion in which, for some unknown reason, you are bizarrely too invested.

And hashtags? Really?

You are clearly above it all.

Yet, somehow here, too…..

The girl is clearly upper middle class for where she lives so I’m not sure what you mean. If anything she is pretending to be something she isn’t on twitter. as a child I knew a lot of kids who grew up wealthy and pretended to be something they weren’t.

I could see her appearing shocked and traumatized having realized it became an international story and would always be a Google hit on her name if she had only intended to dip out of her life for a few days.

LE released the road footage for a reason, there is no child, no car of kidnappers, etc. There is her getting out of her car and walking toward the trees. She likely had someone pick her up just on the other side of them.

Maybe she was mad at her boyfriend, the cheating SM posts, and wanted to get his attention by making it appear she had been abducted with the staged scream? Her social media does seem a bit dramatic and she did study psychology in college, often a sign of a troubled person or someone from a troubled family.

LE not mentioning the non-existent child, the one no one else saw and who is not on the video, and not mentioning any abductors for the public to BOL for really says it all.

Dad is a bank exec and they are clearly comfortable financially, so I don't think the parents were in on some GFM grift. Others, time will tell.

There are some stories coming out about who she was with, will surprise many if true.

Wonder what GFM will do with the funds, if it is a hoax they have not paid in the past, I think.

I read her father is an executive with a bank, family is definitely comfortable. Maybe she is the "loose cannon kid?"

There was never a GFM. Her family said that one wasn’t needed and to donate to crime stoppers and to the volunteers for water, sunscreen etc.

SOP for when you want to fake an abduction.

She left the car running though.
But I did wonder if that was an accident and maybe she was on the passenger side trying to open the car doors but they were locked and she realized she was locked out with the car running

So glad she’s ok. Obviously this is pure speculation but I think you are spot on. I think she just wanted to give her boyfriend a scare, get some attention from him and maybe others. Not unlike when my young children threaten to “run away” (to our backyard).

Now that it’s become a much bigger thing, I think she’s trying to double down and say she was kidnapped and harmed for the last two days, because suddenly the truth sounds really stupid.

If this is true, I hope she fesses up soon because continuing to lie to LE is going to get her in trouble.

If she was actually held for the last two days, I am so grateful so found her way home and hope she can recover.

Yes…again, faking an abduction. She did not get locked out of her car and then just walk off into the woods.

Her twitter account is not what I would have expected for a 25 year old getting her second degree. It seems more like something a teenager would have written. Perhaps there were mental health issues.

Anyway, I am glad she is safe and home now.

The woman in the tiktok video isn’t Carlee. She reposted it on her Twitter feed. A passive aggressive message to her bf? Something a teen would do on social media. Maybe she believed he was cheating. The woman in that video (not Carlee) said something to the effect of “You cheat, I’m leaving like a thief in the night.” Did she create a bogus scenario to test her boyfriend? Would he rescue her like a knight in shining armor?

When this story first came out, I was so horrified that I told my husband about it. He laughed and said there was NO WAY this could be true. So, I pulled it up on my phone. We ended up watching the Hoover PD’s press conference and we’re both so impressed with how they were handling the case.

I thought that their response to when she was found was really well put.

Gotta be a weird feeling to be searching for this woman and a toddler for two days only to learn things may have not been what they seem.

I know what code switching is. I just don’t have a high opinion of someone who has to really really code switch to interact with the rest of society.

Yet some of her family dared to say they didn’t do as good a job as they could due to her race…
