At the council meeting last week, he told the MCPS head of transportation that his kid likes their bus driver.

His youngest may still be going to MCPS elementary school. The oldest are definitely at SSFS. You can see it in his social media and if you Google, you can find a link of PTA parent donors with his name on there.

OK? Seems like where his kids go to school is a family matter, and none of our business.

When he is advocating to make public schools unsafe for our kids it speaks volumes of his character. His kids get safe schools while ours have to contend with violence, bullying, sexual assaults daily?

I thought he was against SROs? If he's trying to make schools less safe, he would be pro-SRO at least based on the actual studies.

He is against SRO's and any kind of discipline or consequences.

So you're saying he's for making schools safer then since studies indicate their presence makes kids less safe just look at Parkland and Uvalde.

Good thing we aren't in FL or TX.

May as well be since it could happen anywhere given our lax gun laws.

well, gee, gun laws don't work, so might as well get rid of gun laws, period, right?

Maybe you haven't noticed but we don't have any.

False.

I know! We have the right to bear automatic weapons! Cause Merica!

So he is an MCPS parent then.

Anyone can donate without being a parent.

His kids are at a private. That's a fact. I know a parent whose kid attends the same private.

At least one is at MCPS

ES?

to add.. violent behavior is not as bad in ES as it is in MS/HS, and RJ works better for ES aged kids, not teens.

It doesn't work well at any age as the victim should not be forced to sit through a fake apology. And, kids need consequences. If they are behaving like that, forcing them to do a fake apology means nothing. And, since things are worse, not better, clearly it's not working.

But it's completely fine when the apology is sincere in fact it works wonders!

Yes, our laws are twisted to make it easy for dangerous and unstable people to easily acquire more dangerous weapons. Any attempt to end that is opposed by GOP hardliners despite broad support from over 80% of the population.

The most recent school killer was under psychiatric treatment, so they should not have had the ability to legally buy a gun. Don’t you think the parents should be held responsible since they knew about the gun purchase history of their killer child, who had had guns in the parents’ home?

Simple solution:
Hold the psychiatrist accountable who failed to red flag his mentally ill patient.

Psychiatric treatment is not (in any state, as far as I know) a bar to legal gun ownership. Some states have red flag laws but that’s not for any psychiatric treatment, it’s for threats/previous violence, involuntary admissions (none of which the tn shooter had.) in any case, tn does not have a red flag law. It’s the guns. -mental health professional

Imposing criminal consequences on mental health care professionals for things like this is a very quick way to create a massive shortage of mental health care professionals.

I'm fine with criminal consequences for parents who don't secure their own firearms though. A chilling effect on gun ownership seems like it'd have fewer consequences.

I’d agree with this. Of course it seems like the push is to criminalize gun ownership, but let criminals who commit gun crimes generally off the hook. If you commit a crime with a gun you should be locked up for a long time. This would drastically reduce murders.

so please clarify---this RJ in public schools means that if my kid is assaulted or bullied that nothing happens to the offender? They are basically talked to and thats about it?
