Yes, don't see how the show will survive. Bella's fantastic GOT cameos did not translate well to a lead role. I'm bored whenever she's onscreen.

I played the games. I strongly recommend keeping with it. I'm not exaggerating when I say playing both of the video games had a greater emotional effect on me than any other art I've ever consumed... and I'm not that big of a video game player. Joel will likely still appear in flashbacks and there's a lot to do with other characters.

The game is hard on easy mode.
Not for the beginner gamer.

Did anyone catch Ashley Johnson singing the closing credit song?

I don’t play but my DH does, and we both really liked this game! Great story, great writing, great MUSIC. Great, flawed characters. I don’t fully remember it as well as DH so it’s a bit more interesting for me probably (like I didn’t remember the stalkers), but I think he’s liking it too.

I LOVE Kaitlyn Denver since Last man standing, and she’s really getting her time now! Love that for her. I don’t mind that she’s not the super buff version, but she is *quite* small at 5’2” and very slender. I’ll see how it goes.

DH reminded me that the song playing while they *spoilers*

Ellie and Dina ride away at the end of e2 dragging … is the song by Ellie in the game. It’s called Through the Valley, Ashely Johnson (the original Ellie game voice actor aka Ellie’s birth mom in s1) sings it and it is so beautiful and haunting. Can’t wait for more.

This is my only critique/criticism. Video game Abby is such a physical force in the game, it's hard to see Dever filling that role. I trust the creative team to handle it appropriately but it's hard to see Dever as the physically imposing Abby

How would anyone surviving an apocalypse have a lot of muscle? You'd think they would be forced to ration. I assume Dever won't be on much this season.

Because she’s a soldier, in an insulated community. It’s not like they don’t have food or exercise.

The video game answers this question. Abby's organization/ military faction created a self sustained community that included safety, constant food, and a exercise/ weight room facility. Abby had numerous weight lifting records for her organizing unit. The way her military unit lived was very different from how the general population lived (even communities like Jackson).

My answer was vague and since this is a spoilers thread I'll give a little bitof detail. The WLF set up on the football stadium where the Seattle Seahawks play. They have cooking facilities, a professional weight room and fairly easy to secure facilities. They converted the football bleachers into tiered gardens where they grew fruits and veggies. The playing field housed livestock for meat. The luxury suites were converted to dorms for higher ranks; others lived in the stadium tunnels.

It's pretty realistic even if there's a slight suspension of belief.

Since there’s not a third game, is this series over at the end of 2nd season?

The second game has A LOT of story. The TV series is going to split the second game into 2 seasons. It's not clear if there will be a 3rd game. The story has been told but could continue.

Anonymous wrote:Great finale and season. However, as someone who did not play the game, the moral dilemma aspect didn’t strike me so much as I watched the ending. The way I viewed everything, they were going to kill Ellie based on a doctor’s assertion that he could MAYBE create a vaccine. And then that vaccine MIGHT save lives but there’s no assurance that it would lead to the restoration of normal government, since things were already fubar worldwide. So in my mind yeah, it would be reasonable for Marlene and team to pump the brakes and look for a way to develop a vaccine without killing Ellie. They know how she became immune, and it did not require anyone’s brain to be removed, so it just does not logically follow that this was the only way to proceed. So in my viewing it felt like Joel was completely justified in his actions.

I get that I am making my own inferences here but I’m just explaining how I perceived it.

Did they really know how she became immune?

How would they immunize people knowing that? Have a zombie bite every woman giving birth?

I agree. In Ellie’s case, it was seconds between the bite (located close to the birth canal), the birth and the cutting of the umbilical cord. No one would know how short of a time frame it was. The doctors would have no idea how long a baby can remain in the womb before birth - before it is immune versus before it’s infected (or if a baby can even be infected in vitro).

I mean it’s fiction so no one can say. I was not saying like literally the only thing they could do was replicate the same conditions in the middle of a birth. I was saying that the plot leaves room to conjecture that you could give someone a very minuscule exposure and vaccinate them since that is what happened to Ellie. That is how science works, you see someone happen and you try multiple experiments and hypotheses to try to explain/replicate it. Also if I was going to really take this overly far I should say they should also start with mice first, etc., all before killing someone!! But my point was just that the story leaves plenty of room to doubt Marlene’s plan.

She was exposed via the placenta. Which may be a factor.

Umbilical cord?

Why is she only credited as a guest star? Abby is a main character.

Abby looks so much like Ellie I really thought they were supposed to be related.
