Please if you are a reporter, please come up with a more factual story regarding the now defunct Whittle School. WBJ was the only source that tried to factually report on the school. The two Wapo stories that came out this year was much more sympathetic to Chris Whittle’s narrative of the school facing hardships due to the pandemic when the main problem was Chris Whittle himself. Avenues had the right idea when it kicked him out. Besides, Chris Whittle is the type of person who never repays the money he borrows unless he gets sued. He got sued by Avenues and Sunny Varkey for not repaying money he borrowed. I remember when Chris Whittle sent out an email to Whittle families talking highly about his friendship with Varkey and that the merger was going to be great. Never happened and fast forward to today.

Whittle always overspends lavishly on architects and facilities and then doesn’t have the funds to pay even the contractors, not to mention the school faculty and staff.

Thanks for the laugh!

Go after critics for what, btw?! The trail of facts doesn't leave much to conjecture

Chris Whittle spends lavishly on trivial stuff. I remember when money was spent on a lavish retreat for faculty in Switzerland before the 19-20 school year started. Also in the same school year, each student received so many gifts with Whittle name all the while teachers were not paid on time. Maybe those gifts were bribery attempts to get the students to come back the next school year. The school had been a revolving door for both students and teachers since its opening. I am sure Chris Whittle never paid the architect either. Whittle School’s landlord sued the real estate agent for brokering the lease most likely because the landlord knows Whittle is broke. I can recall an email from Chris Whittle saying that he thanks the three main parents on the parents’ committee and that they advised him on his personal spending. In the end, the college consulting firm contracted to Whittle did not get paid.

Chris Whittle never used an organizational email to convey news of transactions that were supposedly on their way and the eventual closure. He only used a gmail address. I wonder why.

We don't want him!

Oh, wow. Me too

What a weird tale of greed and me first. I heard a book was in the works (including the parent committee and the HoS). Ditto the lawsuits.

I actually didn’t know most of the stuff about these families until reading this thread. I came across one in a different context and they struck me as a bit ridiculous and desperate to fit in with more money than sense.

I really hope a book about the Whittle School enterprise is in the works. I hope a documentary also comes out. Chris Whittle and his enablers in this one need to be exposed.

For those former Whittle students or families who were planning to return to Whittle for the 22-23 year, did you get your refunds for the enrollment deposit or tuition installment payment? The admissions staff were begging us to return, but we had no plans of returning because the future of the school looked bleak.

Someone might be wooking at a whittle jail time when all this is done.

I'm shocked that the HOS Search committee could have missed all the negativity surrounding Dennis Bisgaard's tenure at Whittle. Also, his background suggests that he jumps from place to place. I doubt he plans to be at Maret long. In light of the alleged improprieties at Whittle, I would rescind his offer. I would not throw good money after bad. Pay him to leave Maret now. He and his wife.

He was at Whittle for 2 years and 4 months per his Linkedin

Maret's announcement of the new HOS did NOT mention the time he spent at Whittle

Seems to me that Ian Cameron, Sylvia White, and Leigh Comas need to be canned and caned

Dennis must have had connections with the Maret board. Other people mentioned how there were two stellar candidates who did not get the job. This is especially true in DC that WHO you know is much more important than WHAT you know. Before joining Maret in Fall 2023, he will have been interim HoS at three different schools not to include Whittle. He must be very well connected that he is lucky to be HoS at that many schools in a short period of time with a smooth transition between places. We were at Whittle and he abruptly left for a different interim HoS position after one month into year 2 at Whittle. He might stay around longer at Maret because it is an established school in DC. But who knows?

Maret family here. It is a true embarrassment that our so-called “national search” ended up with a person who is associated with pure graft.

Apparently the search committee told the faculty that the parents supported Dennis and that none of the family surveys were negative- THIS IS A LIE.

I know several families (including myself) who gave him the lowest marks possible after his presentation.

The board is a joke and now the school is a laughing stock.

So demand that they pull the survey data...I'm sure someone has it...it wouldn't be the first time in this city that someone has questioned a vote of sorts...and demanded a recount..

It looks like there were three final candidates for the Maret HoS. I am sure there were more than three candidates initially and was reduced to three final candidates. How was Dennis considered as a candidate in the first place? It looks like he might have been pre-selected by someone at Maret to become the next HoS and that the selection phase happened to make it look like Dennis was going through the legitimate steps to become HoS. Not a Maret family, but it seems like the majority of, many families at least object to Dennis becoming the next HoS.

I’m assuming it wasn’t knowing someone at Maret. It was tit for tat with someone in the Whittle circle who pulled the strings. Start with the parent graft committee

In the upcoming bankruptcy etc should be able to find out exactly how much both Bisgaards made and who they served
