Montgomery- 5 more days and masks off.

We elect officials to CONTROL the public? Perhaps in matter of criminal actions and those actions that we deem essential for peaceful civic life and work.
To that one pp, however, we want to be CONTROLLED?? Well, I hope you are not all liberal posting on dcum and hating on China!

50.8 today. One more good day, and the clock will reset. I don’t think masks are coming back

I was initially skeptical, after those days of 108/95/108 cases last week, but I think you’re right that we will reset the clock. We just need 99 or fewer cases tomorrow.

That’s not the way a seven-day trailing average works. It updates every day. Unfortunately, we have five consecutive days of substantial transmission (actually, six but Andrew Friedson rigged the counting). Cases will need to be lower the next two days than they were Thursday and Friday of the previous week. The positivity rate has been roughly steady, so absent a drop in testing, cases probably will be about the same they were last Thursday and Friday.

Yes. That’s exactly right and that’s exactly what I meant when I said another good day. A good day is lower than 180 that we had last Thursday. So if we have a good day, that 108 falls off and is replaced with a new good day, thereby lowering the average.

94 new cases reported today, dropping the metric to 49.49 cases per 100,000 per week. So the clock resets and we avoid the reimposition of the mask mandate for at least another week.

So the bottom line is that at least as of today we can still keep not wearing masks ?! Sounds good to me!

Yes.

https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/coronavirus/mask-mandate-no-longer-expected-to-return-next-week-in-montgomery-county/?fbclid=IwAR3N_llxUgfBzEh1pER4yhSfanTAjZwaxYVuBBmlUbWWnimZlypV3YA-PQQ

I’m glad the numbers are declining and that people have the choice to mask or unmask.😃 😷

And for at least 7 more days, likely much more.

The clock has reset. It would need another 7 days in a row above the threshold to trigger the mandate

Correct. We're still right on the edge of the mask cutoff, so who knows what the future will bring. But we're free from the mask mandate for at least a week.

Simply put, daily case counts below 75 keep us on track to avoid the mask mandate.

I want our elected officials to set a good example in their behavior AND set limits at this point because we have shown people cannot self regulate. China sadly is doing better than we are with covid.

They aren't going to bring the mask mandate back. They will just keep changing the rules, like they did this time.

They're pulling numbers out of thin air and have moved the goalposts three times at this point. MoCo pols love to control, control, control.

What’s stupid comment.

We elect officials TO control the public. What the hell else the point of having a government, dummy? We vote for people who will be in authority, to protect us from dumbasses who go around blathering about “muh freedumbs”. Control? Control is the REASON we put people in charge.

Some of us are capable of assessing risks and making our own decisions (which included getting vaccinated with a booster). Sorry you need a daddy to tell you what to do.

Your risk taking impacts all of us in the community. That's what you don't seem to understand. Sadly people like you need to be told to act responsibly because otherwise you will not. We have proven that vaccines alone is not enough to protect us. US numbers are some of the highest still in the world. Pathetic. Just because you are vaccinated does not mean you should stop being careful. But, your post is clear that you don't care about anyone but yourself or how your behavior impacts others.

People like you will be raising another selfish generation and then complaining how you don't understand why they behave like they do.
