I just got an email from Mundo Verde indicating that my son moved from the 28th slot in the waiting list... to the 8th.
How is this possible? What do you think are the chances that he will get in? |
| Assume this is for PK3 or PK4? It is possible because they added ECE capacity post lottery round 1. Check the archives from about 2-3 wks ago. |
|
yes, PK3. how come they added ECE capacity? nothing was mentioned during the open house last january.
|
| They needed the $$ when the funding per pupil turned out to be flat this year. |
| I thought you meant they were moving to a better neighborhood. |
| There are already several threads on this. They essentially added two classes. They are the same classes that they generally add in Kindergarten, so there will be no more added to the cohort, just more in the first two grades. It will actually likely be easier for this class in the long-run, as they will have the benefit of all other students (other than replacements for attrition) having two extra years of immersion. |

wait, wait... OP here.
When i went to the open house in january mundo verde said they only had 1 slot for non siblings. I still put it as my #1 slot. On the day of the lottery my son was in the 29th slot of the waitlist. A few days later he moved to the 28th. I completely forgot about it because we got into our second choice and i was happy about it. How come now there were 20 slots open? did they open a new PK3 class? |
| What they tell you in January is only an educated guess. |
Yes, as we just said, they opened two new prek3/4 classes. |
And a lot of once perspective parents are no longer interested in MV... I imagine you will get a call |
|
OP here... in a way, i almost don't want to get that call because i don't want to think about the whole thing again. I am pretty in love with the school that my son got it. Even if it wasn't bilingual.
Boy oh boy... what a summer this will be. |
| OP, what's the school you matched with? |
OP here. Inspired teaching |
|
We LOVE Inspired Teaching! Have been there for two years- but are leaving for MV. We discussed at length with our teachers at MV, but they knew Spanish immersion was important for our family and thought it would be a good fit.
Two great choices! |
| My kid is now in the early 80s. Think we have a shot? |
