Right. There was no abuse. Just manipulation and maneuvering by BL, RR and possibly TS |
+ 1. The people here pretending that Baldoni is the one with a wrecked reputation are manifesting their little hearts out but, nope. Sorry. |
I thought I just read here recently someone crying about needing to support his wife and kids. People are worried about him. |
| Not many people recover from the stench of allegations, even if they are found not to be true. Woody Allen, OJ, Duke LaCrosse, Brett Kavanaugh. The public remembers. |
I think that's generally true but there is a non zero chance this goes down spectacularly enough with BL and RR basically weaponizing MeToo that it backfires. With the exception of Duke, I think the popular sentiment is these people were all guilty of these allegations even if not proven and I don't think that holds for Baldoni. |
People will always remember this controversy when his name comes up. It's unavoidable. She can always just back out of it that it's how she felt at the time. |
But because of the strike it was actually much longer. The started shooting in May of 2023 but didn't wrap until January/February of 2024. They filmed for like a month before the strikes and then picked back up in January. And in between there was a lot of interaction because of the conflicts that arose in the first month both regarding Baldoni's/Heath's behavior and regarding things like Lively's access to dailies, input into the editing process, etc. I would not describe what happened as "psychological abuse" by Baldoni against Blake, but the impression I get is a terrible working relationship with some weird, perhaps boundary-violating behavior from Baldoni (the stuff with him talking about her dead dad, oversharing on set about is sex life, and then perhaps some genuinely bad behavior regarding shooting the birth sequence), all during that first week of shooting. I think all of this pissed Blake off and made her dread going back to finish filming after the strike, and the more she thought about it the more unhappy she was. I think this gave rise to a lot of the efforts to wrestle control of the movie from Baldoni (perhaps driven at least in part by having felt uncomfortable on set and wanting to exercise control over the footage as a result, but eventually just becoming a power struggle). Then demanding they agree to certain things before returning to the set in an effort to feel more in control (and less miserable) about finishing the shoot with this costar/director with whom, at that point, she had a horrible relationship. Like I think the strike prolonged what was always going to be an unpleasant experience because I think these two are just oil and water, and in doing so led to everything escalating because it gave Lively (and perhaps Baldoni too, though I don't get this from his complaint) time to ruminate over the bad experience and become very, very reticent to return. If they'd actually just shot the whole movie over May/June of 2023 as originally planned, I think there would have been no love lost but that most of the worst conflicted would have been avoided, their relationship would not have been so bad that they had to do the separate premiers, and no lawsuits filed. |
It's pretty standard to wish a spouse happy birthday on social media. |
He also has won by not backing down when Reynolds and Lively tried to steamroll him. |
This. It’s been an interesting thread. |
Duke lacrosse is the only one of these three were the allegations were untrue and everyone know those allegations were false. |
That's called winning the battle but not the war. |
Everyone still thinks Caylee Anthony killed her daughter. People remember the bad much longer than the good. |
The whole thing makes both of them sound risky and difficult. They are both toast. |
Nah. Keep spinning. |
