School Boundaries and "One Fairfax"

You’re going to have to be gentle with some of the Langley posters for a while. Their One Great Falls thing-y didn’t quite work out as planned (although others wanted nothing to do with that rhetoric).

Let’s just be frank. Diversity always means black. No one really cares if Hispanic kids are falling behind. They just got here.

That's not at all true. In fact, in NOVA the socialists have already discarded blacks - they know they're getting the black vote anyway - and started selling the "free stuff" line to Hispanics. And why wouldn't they, it's been working so well?

Time for Mclean to be like Falls church and operate their
own system. There is nothing good for Mclean residents in One Fairfax. So many in my neighborhood voted dem and they are clueless. The will figure this out too late. Time also to have school board members with kids currently enrolled. Not interested in hearing school board members whose kids graduated never went.

So if we took all the teachers from One school and swapped them with another are you saying the rankings would reverse?

Not PP, but absolutely not. There might be some changes, but there would be no reversal.

I was a teacher. I taught in a school with extreme poverty with wonderful teachers and some who were not so good. I never taught in a school with extreme affluence, but I did teach in a diverse school without extreme poverty or wealth. There were wonderful teachers there--and others who were not so good.

That was probably true 20-25 years ago, but not anymore.

If anything, I think Hispanic kids are now thought of before other racial minorities.

Agree. And, not only is there a poverty division, there is also a language division.

Actually, every single precinct in McLean, whether zoned for Langley, McLean, or Marshall, voted primarily for the Democratic candidates, so you are out of sync. You might move to Great Falls, where there is more sympathy for your griping, but of course you’d have to build several new schools - $$$$.

Exactly. When I was voting for school board today, it was looking at the list on my iPhone making sure I got every Democrat and thinking Screw You Great Falls Bigots. And I have no vested interest in the Great Falls Herndon mess. But it pisses me off that they are being Trumpian tactics to FCPS education. I really don’t want my kids education pulled down into lies and rumors and chaos and distorted videos. And I don’t want FCPS to become a Trump rally. If they have a point, they can attend a school board meeting and make it like rational adults.

Live with the backlash you created. And do better. We don’t need those tactics here.

And it’s voters like you who just totally screwed my child. We saved for over a decade to afford our school district. We can’t afford private. But hey I’m also a conservative so I guess my family deserves nothing but the worst right?

Nope. You deserve what everyone else has in PUBLIC schools. A school that reflects the whole community. Not just your neighborhood. If your kid needs 1% FARMs in public school, sell your house and pay for private.

You do realize that a moment a child who was moved from a good school to a high FARMS school is bullied, harassed, injured, etc, that parent is going to sue the hell out of Fairfax County? Or if a child bussed into a school without a low FARMs rate injures another child, same deal?

DP. So, you believe we should bus kids so that every school is exactly the same?
Okay, let's start with TJ. That will go over well.
