Not sure where you read me calling it a bad school. It’s pretty easy to get into. 1100-1300 sat range is an above average student…if you’re even slightly resourced, getting into A&M is not a stress.

New England has a great scene for small colleges and private institutions, but the big public schools…well, they aren’t that great beyond certain programs (Umass CS, SUNY ESF, etc). The SEC schools do have a decent amount of top programs and resources as flagships, and the party scene and sports scene is great.

Now I don’t really believe there’s any concerning amount of students who were off to Harvard or Yale who suddenly discovered UGA was for them.

Circles in the South didn’t attend Ivies or northeastern SLAC’s. They don’t care about those schools. It’s not considered a birthright or entitlement or badge of honor for a high stats kid to attend an Ivy.

Southern publics have to bribe students with 10s of thousands of dollars to begin considering. I’d understand if we were talking about UT Austin, but no one is crying about their chances of getting into Alabama or Ole Miss
