Remarkable that today caring for the poor rather than enriching billionaires with more tax cuts is considered “communism”. This country has drifted so far to the right that people become enraged at the very notion of reducing income inequality.

Yeah, this thread is sad. People are SO scared of change. What we had with the Dems wasn't working either. I'm a GenX all for this kind of change. As my 19yo reminds me, whenever there is a flaw in a socialist country, socialism is blamed. But, democracy isn't ever blamed. I thought it was an interesting point. He pushes me, and frankly I think it's exciting. I'm more scared of a trumpist dictatorship/technobro cities than young socialists up and down and all the ways.

Capitalism is always blamed. I keep hearing about late stage capitalist being the cause of all our woes.

What will happen is that these socialist efforts will fail, but we will be told that "real" socialism has never been tried or that we didn't throw enough money down the hole. Socialism never addresses the free rider problem.

Not that PP but in general, I believe that unfettered capitalism is not ideal (screws over the little guy, market crashes like 2008), but communism is also not ideal (ser, Soviet Union). We need to figure out the happy medium. Socialism is it, just depends how much is too much or too little.

Even tucker Carlson was raving about the Russian grocery stores.

I don’t think socialism is the answer but given we’ve had 40 years of Reaganomics, it doesn’t help to have some socialism to balance it out. Obama was called a socialist and he was. The recovery bill that jump started the economy was socialist. It provided handouts to the banks, bankers, homeowners, auto industry and anyone else under water. Sometimes socialism is needed

Indeed. A strong safety net is crucial to make capitalism work. Exactly the remnants of which Trump and crew are now destroying.

I just learned he’s the son of Mira Nair-a fairly famous filmmaker who did two great movies Monsoon wedding and Mississippi Masala at a time when female filmmakers (let alone Asian ones) were quite uncommon. Here’s to the sons of strong women!

Yeah, his mom is not Muslim. In fact she is not Christian or Jewish making their marriage not recognized in islam. So it's hilarious that so many jews are freaking out about this guy.

Whats interesting is all of you second cousins of Bill Ackman are constantly manufacturing hysteria over antisemitism when in fact you are so the racist ones that have so much hatred in your heart for a quintessential New Yorker from a secular family. Please stop projecting your own hate onto this kid. Please stop breaking apart the Democratic Party.

Unfettered capitalism is what the developing world is. Where an UMC family can easily have a staff of 5 people working exclusively for them. Is that what you want America to turn into? You clearly lack work or living experience abroad. Maybe watch a foreign film or two if you cannot travel.

What evidence do you have that people get seen more quickly in Florida? I’ve never seen any. In fact, I have elderly relatives who come to NY for specialist care because some of the best hospitals in the country are there.

Vermont folks "look" luxurious. It's a thing. Man, you don't go abroad but you don't seem to travel much in the United States either!
