There is a lot of overlooked talent in this area. My guess is there is that of course some will leave FVU for MYS GA. Also there are some top notch players at the RL level that may be on the cusp for ECNL but live too far or can't break into the ECNL level at their club. Arlington is a great example. There are a bunch of 2010, 2011 and 2012 RL players at Arlington that will likely try out for MYS now because let's be honest, what does RL really get you? It's just a money grab.

This is a good example. SYC has completely full 1st teams and 2nd (GA2) teams. Trust me, a lot of those players would jump ship if they thought there was room on a new GA 1st team elsewhere (same applies to ECNL). I think Arlington RL players in those years will defiantly register and tryout for McLean GA. They are likely tired of playing on RL with knowing there is little chance to get on their ECNL team because the rosters are so full.

But I think MYS only got GA Aspire. Careful what you are trying out for.

McLean 100% got GA and GA aspire. Stop trying to confuse people. Not sure why you have an agenda but you need to stop

Is key for boys so it will help GA grow. ECNL girls getting a greater share of D1 scholarships is about the players in ECNL not the level of coaching. As that paradigm continues to shift, ECNL will have to make some hard choices or disband altogether in 5-10 years. Arlington is not leaving ECNL. No one in their right mind is. That is the issue. The boy's side is a problem but you don't trade away the top on the girl's side for the boy's side top and a hope that maybe someday GA makes it.

I do not think there are many hard choices to make. I agree that the answer is a combination of ECNL and MLS Next. That will not involve GA though.

They already applied for mls next they just submitted the paperwork late so they have to wait until next winter to find out if they got accepted. It doesn’t really matter to me if you believe it or not, but I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t know that it actually happened. If they do get accepted into MLS next they will have to switch to GA.

arlington is stuck between bethesda and alexadndria, they will never get MLS Next and GA. It seems they will be screwed soon with everything that its about to go down.

Arlington is most stable club out here with fields, a huge rec program, and guaranteed high income clientele to pay into their ECNL programs. They will stick with ECNL and count dem checks!

No it doesn’t. They may have two teams but the press release absolutely does not “clearly outline two teams . . . .” Perhaps it’s just bad drafting. If so the club could easily clear this up on their website. Crickets.

Can you not read? This does not say they have two teams. You might infer that this is what they meant, even though they didn’t actually say it, or you can take their actual language (“our girls’ teams will compete in Girls Academy Aspire”) at face value and speculate that they are being cute.

However, the club is clearly monitoring this thread and realized their sloppiness, as the website does now explicitly say they will have two teams at each age level.

I get that there are very good reasons not to trust the word of soccer clubs, but the lack of clarity in the ECNL-NL graph is telegraphing that they know their current ECNL-NL girls are technically no longer MYS--and would have to make the switch from FVU to MYS GA. The RL girls are a more direct switch.

having been at another club when GA came in- I am curious to see if McLean handles things better with their current players. Looking from the outside- I hope they do. I have seen the 2010/2009/2008 teams play and they have some talent. Curious if girls will get pushed aside. Or if girls will opt not to play anymore. It seems like many of the McLean girls are multi-sport athletes.
