Biden’s campaign on Friday reiterated that he remains in the race, but the president is in a “contemplative stage,” one source has told CNN, as he isolates after contracting Covid-19. “There’s a growing sense that it’s game over,” a Biden aide tells CNN.

LOL now I'm certain the Biden team is f#cking with the media on purpose

Biden will Eat, Pray, Love for the weekend and then resume campaigning.

I hope all the disloyal Gen X'ers apologize to Biden personally.

I don’t believe anyone spewing the crap that Biden was pushed aside for Hillary. He didn’t want to run because Beau had just died.

Exactly.

Then you will find this NYT article that was published today interesting.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/19/us/politics/biden-defiance.html

It was in October 2015 when Mr. Biden, then vice president and grieving over the loss of his son Beau five months earlier, announced in the White House Rose Garden that he would not run against Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination. A few months later he looked back on the decision and said, “I regret it every day.”

Publicly, he explained his decision not to run by saying that the grief process was unpredictable and that it “doesn’t respect or much care about things like filing deadlines or debates and primaries and caucuses.”

With President Barack Obama and his wife, Jill, by his side, Mr. Biden said that “it may very well be that that process, by the time we get through it, closes the window on mounting a realistic campaign for president.” In conclusion, he said, “it has closed.”

But privately, people close to him said he was furious at what he saw as a concerted effort to push him aside in favor of the other candidate. It was a precursor to the kind of pressure he is now under from fellow Democrats.

Then, like now, his friends made the case that he would lose — to Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Sanders, and later to Mr. Trump. David Plouffe, Mr. Obama’s top political adviser at the time, sat down with Mr. Biden and showed him polling, The Atlantic reported. “Do you really want it to end in a hotel room in Des Moines, coming in third to Bernie Sanders?” (Eight years earlier, Mr. Biden had finished fifth in the Iowa caucuses and dropped out of the race.)

To Mr. Biden, the message was clear: Mr. Obama wanted him to stay on the sidelines. So did Mr. Obama’s aides. And Mrs. Clinton. The grief over his son was real. But so was the feeling, according to several people who had conversations with him at the time, that he was being railroaded by people to whom he had been nothing but loyal for years. He deserved better, he told allies, and thought he would have proved them wrong if he had run.

David Axelrod, who as a senior adviser to Mr. Obama observed Mr. Biden closely for years, said the vice president has had a chip on his shoulder about the decision, fueled in part by anger that he had been driven out of a race by people who never really respected him the way he thought they should have.

“That chip,” Mr. Axelrod said, “is the battery pack that has driven him his entire life.”

Biden is not President material, and never has been. He's only President because of this Trump phenomenon that no one could have predicted and because Hillary - infinitely more competent! - was not personally liked by voters and was sabotaged by that upstart attention-seeker FBI director Comey (Republican), who should have stayed in his lane.

President Biden is a consequence of a weakened President Trump. Now Trump is stronger than ever, we need someone stronger than Biden.

It's not personal. It's business. So the guy has no right to walk around with shoulder chips. He's lucky he ascended to the Presidency in the first place, and everyone thought "OK, OK, you can have your turn". Now it's time to leave, and he shouldn't be bitter about it. He was given one term already. He's going down in history as 46. That's PLENTY HONORABLE ALREADY. No one is entitled to a second term, for God's sakes!!!

As for Trump, he's befouled everything he's touched. A total waste of space and a symbol of the rot in this country that he's close to the Presidency once again.

We need to move past these two. Harris can do that.

I don’t know who this Tragedeigh spelled name man is, but man is he wrong. The media couldn’t be kinder and gentler to Trump if it tried.

He also wrote this amazing turn of phrase that took me a few moments to decipher:

"The press have been running cover for Biden his entire presidency, which is the only way he could ever even pretend to function, but now journalists are running any and every roomer of disfunction or concession they hear as fact in the hopes of pressuring the old husk out

He should check in with Parker Molloy, who not only brings proof of how the media capes for Trump, but can spell and write well.

I can't believe I'm saying this but it's now absolutely true:

Joe Biden is going to run a credible anti-elite campaign

What does this have to do with GenX?

Leave us out of this. The man is declining rapidly in front of our eyes

I guess this explains why Gov. Whitmer ditched Joe Biden in Michigan and instead went to Sun Valley to go suck up to all the media titans for money.

They were planning this all along and she was jockeying for their support.

Sorry, but this was a Gen X-led Dem soft coup. Look at their dumb PAC website that they set up and launched a few weeks ago:
https://demnextgen.com/

Look at the first messages on that page:
"I am a bridge to the next generation of leaders. – President Biden"
"Thank you, President Biden, for saving democracy in 2020. Meet the next generation of leaders."

They were trying to kick the POTUS out the door.

I have to believe that the posters who are still adamant that Biden needs to keep running are either:

1. Republicans or foreign agents supporting Trump.

or

2. Biden's inner circle who unaccountably posts here.

Because no one else in their right mind thinks a confused, stumbling and memory-impaired oldie is the best person to confront Trump (himself memory-impaired and confused, but also vindictive and punitive).

This is so easy: Harris is the consensus candidate, she's young, energetic and articulate. She's also a woman with mixed ethnic roots.

I mean, she's the ideal candidate!

Were it not for misogyny and racism... sigh.

This 1000%.

Old Joe is literally going to drop dead before the years end and we can all see it!

This is insanity

I'm so exhausted by this news cycle. Biden seems to be digging in inexplicably. Just step down man and take a nice vacation! I can't take this anymore.

Same. It’s time to retire Joe. You can’t make it another 4 years. Everyone can see it. Your pride and ego is going to get us project 2025 and i’m FURIOUS

Why shouldn't Trump do this. He's just as old and delusional and really likes to golf and winter in Florida! He's the ideal retirement candidate.

Stop whatabouting. Just stop.
Trump is no spring chicken but Biden has crossed that line from old to “too old”. He seems feeble and weak. He seems confused.

Trump surviving the assasination attempt has catapulted him to look “strong”. Biden cant compete with that. He can barely walk up steps.

I hate trump with every fiber of my being but Biden has to acknowledge he is winning zero independents with this perception and losing dems who are not enthusiastic and will stay home. NJ is in play for Gods sake. NJ!!
