The FBI always misuses its power to favor the right-wing and target the left. These guys thought they worked for J Edgar Hoover and their side was exempt from consequences for biased enforcement.

In other words: The "whistleblower" is upset that FBI is being pressed to investigate right wing extremism and domestic terrorism.

I will concede that confidential human sources are different than gmen, but why did they place 12 into a handful of Michigan fringe group who wanted to kidnap the governor? The problem with conspiracy theories is they eventually come true.

You're "conceding" but you need to do even more conceding. FBI didn't "place" agents into that Michigan nutjob group that wanted to kidnap the governor. That group was entirely home grown, their extremism and plot was entirely their own. What happened is that a few of them started to become so concerned about the extremism of some of their fellow members that they dropped a dime to the FBI about it.
