Please, genuinely interested, in what way do you feel this reflected more poorly on police and how was this a mistake?

Other than that the police stood by as Proud Boys threatened violence against a group of people that included the councilmember, then falsely claimed that they had dispersed the Proud Boys? Do you think that reflects well on the police?

And then, does this supposedly police-attacking councilmember attack the police for the failure to protect and the false characterization? No, the councilmember does not. Because unlike the FOP, she doesn't act as though everything were all about her.

This is the first time this has been said by anyone, even by the Twitter activists who were there, so I know that you are making it up.

She comes out smelling the worst in this. And it’s not supposedly, she does attack the police. It’s all over her twitter.

Nah, police look bad too.

Maybe the police should DO THEIR JOBS, like appropriately dealing with known violent groups like Proud Boys rather than standing back and standing by or whatever
Maybe the police should do their jobs without being a-holes

Basically, stop giving the public ammunition.

Montgomery County Police say that they dispersed a Proud Boys protest outside a drag queen story hour event at the Loyalty Bookstore in Downtown Silver Spring on Saturday afternoon.

Parasol Patrol volunteers said that despite the MCPD report, the Proud Boys were not dispersed by police. “They did not disperse the PBs [Proud Boys],” volunteer John Zittrauer said in a comment on Facebook. “…I’m the guy with the bloody nose.”

The Proud Boys left when the event ended, Mink said.

More police sympathizers like MPD has? Maybe MCPD needs to do some house cleaning. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/messages-police-officer-often-fed-information-to-proud-boys-leader/3280698/

This just proves that people talking about the police are right. The police are virtually useless. Hey stand around and watch proud boys attack people. I wonder if this is because they sympathized with the PB’s?

One of the pictures I saw has them flashing the white power hand sign.

The PB’s, not the police.

And in DC we had MPD standing around doing nothing while PBs assaulted random people right in front of them, we had MPD giving PBs fist bumps, we had MPD Lieutenants feeding intel to PBs.

Police departments are compromised by violent far right extremists.

Not to mention, the revelation that the Oathkeepers membership roster included numerous active police officers. As a reminder, Proud Boys and Oathkeepers were two of the main domestic right wing MAGA terrorist groups involved in organizing the violent attack on the US Capitol on January 6th.

Police turning a blind eye to right wing violence is not a "whoops" - it's by design.

MCPD officers were down there protecting the Capitol and several were severely injured. There are 18,000 police departments. Painting them all with one broad brush does nobody any good. And can actually harm.

Some serious house cleaning needs to be done within some of these departments because they are full of Proud Boys and Oathkeepers sympathizers.

It would be good to have them removed from the force and banned from ever serving again.

And police need to get over this toxic bullshit culture of "to hold one cop accountable is an attack on all cops" crap. Cops themselves need to be the ones leading the charge to purge yourselves of the cops you yourselves know to be abusive shitheads. Otherwise you don't look much better than the criminals. Just another gang, except with badges. Clean up your act.
