I think Mink's comments are a symptom of a larger problem among progressives and the anti-racist movement which is that they talk a big talk about inclusivity but put little effort into being inclusive of people of different religious beliefs. It's complicated, because some religious communities are explicitly not inclusive, but it's probably a good start to not name call or throw out words like "white supremacists" when describing communities that are not remotely extremist in their beliefs.

That being said, I'm not a fan of cancel culture, and she'd need to do a lot worse for me to think it would be in order for to be forced to resign or whatever the process is for impeachment of a Councilmember.

That being said she is no different vs all those conservatives who say they love the troops or police but attack and vilify them. Remember the blue lives matter flag poles used to beat the police during Jan 6th and the constant attacks on the troops for their performance during the Afghanistan withdrawal. Just disgusting.

Agreed. And used to county myself among them. But it's not about making space at the table for underrepresented voices. It's about allowing their favorite voices to dominate.

Not even sure I buy that she buys everything she says. It's like she put a bunch of progressive phrases into a hat and pulled them out to form a sentence that'll get attention. And yes, I'm a progressive.

she wants tolerance for her favored marginalized groups. But not others. Tolerance, though, isn’t just for those you like.

ANYWAY- it appears her strategy of "just waiting it out and it will blow over" has worked.

The Washington Post never even picked it up.

I imagine the only consequences were likely a private tongue lashing from the council.
