He says he didn't hit her but he punched the wall near her head (that's abuse btw! How is that not abuse?!) on the plane. Later on he was absolutely passed out. How are we to believe he remembers what he did or didn't do when he was high? Of course he wants to believe he wouldn't do something like that, but here's a guy writing insults in blood and paint all over the wall. (Isn't that abuse, too? Accusing your wife of sleeping with another actor and painting it all over the house wtf?)

I didn't see the later stuff. Was there some sort of video?

The video consisted of him slamming cabinets around, clearly angry and she’s asking him what happened and what’s wrong and he’s acting really angry at her saying “oh, NOTHING HAPPENED TO YOU TODAY” in a menacing voice. Meanwhile he’s just slamming shit around the kitchen, notices she’s recording and then advances saying “Are you recording this?” And then there’s some scuffle for the camera.

It was not good. It made me want to hide under a table.

Made even worse when Depp on the stand said “If she was so scared why didn’t she leave?” There’s a winning argument.

Wow. That behavior is scary and that comment is almost worse.

I also like this judge. Only unanimous feeling coming out of this testimony is that the judge absolutely rocks.

It wouldn’t have bothered me if he had done it once or twice. But it felt like did it a lot at least at first.

I can’t say he’s not competent though. And he managed to make his points without acting pompous. I wondered how Depp would hold it together and I thought he (Depp) did a good job with controlling the anger he had to have been feeling.

She’s great, knows the rules of evidence, isn’t afraid to call the balls and strikes, rarely raises her voice, is calm, is practical and requires timeliness and decorum. She’s the type of judge who makes you want to bring your A game and suffers no fools.

She does seem knowledgeable about the rules of evidence. She quickly and assertively rules on the objections then says, "Ask your next question," so the lawyers don't come back with more arguments on the objections or try to re-ask the same thing. She also has good courtroom decorum and comes across as polite and fair in her rulings rather than snarky/frustrated.

She also seems affable and approachable. She’s a very good judge.

She does. What do you think about the lawyers?

I’m curious as to everyone’s opinion on the lawyer today, Heard’s lawyer. I think he’s been doing a pretty good job as Depp had a really bad day today no matter how you slice it. At best he looks pathetic, at worst like a liar. It did get on my nerves though when he kept reminding everyone how he just wanted to move things along. Like, “Love me, everyone! I want to get us all home!” I get what he’s doing but after the fourth or fifth time I was like, this is your job, pal, and you’re compensated quite well for it, I assume. So please zip it about wanting to rush through in the least amount of time possible. The lawsuit is here for whatever reason, good or bad, and it’s actually good for his wallet that it is. So spare me the “look what a good guy I am” routine.

I think he was saying that to justify cutting Depp off and not letting him ramble. He is trying to get him to give a simple yes or no answer, but Depp wants to explain / clarify. The lawyer wants to move things along, but also doesn't want to give Depp leeway / time to add favorable testimony on cross when the lawyer wants to box him in. I agree he's doing a decent job.

I think Depp's two attorneys sitting with him at the front counsel table are doing fine as well. The woman was not always defending against objections perhaps as well as she could have or taking the opportunity to rephrase or lay a foundation, opting instead to move on altogether, but this is challenging to do -- and in many cases, the point is already made, anyway. Being a trial attorney requires you to constantly think very quickly on your feet. I think his female attorney gave a good opening statement.

Not sure about Heard's female attorney who is at the front counsel table. Could be me, but I didn't care for the delivery of her opening statement. I also didn't think she handled cross of one of the witnesses well (one of Depp's friends?) and mishandled some objections. Again, though, I have to hand it to trial attorneys, because it's not an easy job, especially when the trial is streaming everywhere, I imagine.

I forgot to add at another point he pours himself just a massive glass of wine. As you do for breakfast at Chez Depp, I imagine.

I didn’t find it “scary.” She was secretly videotaping him, goading him on, and laughed at the end. Her behavior was scary, if anything. And the way she was jumpy in court, and emotional at only this video, was ridiculous. Their relationship was clearly toxic but this woman wasn’t abused based on the evidence that’s been presented so far.

Yes, she was very much an instigator and was abusive to him. And he was abusive to her.

Apparently she didn't want to.https://www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/2014012016598/johnny-depp-engaged-amber-heard-why-he-never-married-vanessa-paradis/

It doesn't say that. It says that things were rocky. So basically they weren't getting along and there were problems. Not surprised.
"If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not," he said. "But the thing is, I'd be so scared of ruining her last name! She's got such a good last name." -read the second paragraph

She's French. It's much more common for non-religious couples to be together long-term, have kids, and not marry there. There aren't the marriage incentives we have in the US nor the social pressure/stigma to marry or not.

...and then they both rush into marrying other people.

You clearly don't know anything about the dynamics of domestic violence. Often when you try to leave is when you get hurt. And I ABSOLUTELY sympathize with her in trying to record the violence. When your partner is crazy but only to you, it's hard to get other people to believe you. Other people think your partner is great! They wouldn't believe it unless you showed them that your partner would actually be acting like a crazy jerk. That's why the tape itself is more important. People wouldn't believe Depp would act crazy like this without seeing it themselves.

+1

She was antagonizing him.

You guys are the worst.

"She was antagonizing him!" as he went around smashing cabinets and breaking glass and pouring himself a giant glass of breakfast wine. Sure.

I don't understand how so many of you have time to watch or pay such close attention do this. Do you not have jobs? Responsibilities?

I’m pretty sure his “craziness” that’s displayed on the video (slamming cabinet doors) has been really well, and publicly, documented considering the number of hotel rooms he’s apparently destroyed. Obviously destruction of private property is not okay but does equate DV. I’m also pretty sure his friends/family/inner circle/business associates don’t think of him as some sort of angel, especially considering how he communicates and what he says in texts and emails.

Lastly, I don’t think she was ever trying to leave. I don’t remember when that video was filmed, but assuming it was before they were even married. Just like the ‘incident’ on the plane (him going to sleep on the bathroom floor), which was from 2013. They got married in 2015.. If he anything it seems as though he was the one trying to “get out.”

FWIW I had it playing in the background while I was working from home. I didn't follow everything though, just fits and spurts.
