How dare you! Do you know there was a leper on the field and an MYS 08 Green girl layed hands on him and he was healed? In the game, an MYS 08 G girl levitated a defender out of the way and scored. I would have been impressed, but I knew it was an MYS 08 Green girl, so it was par for the course. Like so many people on this thread, I follow MYS 08 Green around and then race home to post on this board about the wonders I have seen even though I don't have a kid on the team or know anyone on it. I moved my son's first communion date because MYS 08 Green was playing, and I couldn't bear to miss it. Every day this team bring new wonders- strangers who were so awestruck that they fell down weeping when they saw the glorious MYS 08 Green team, throngs of cultish followers who will prove using this very forum the superiority of their team, and cancer patients willing to skip chemo to attend the games and perhaps be cured.
Only time will tell how far this team will go. At this point, i think it is reasonable to conclude that special considerations be made and the girls be allowed to play in the men's olympics and the men's world cup.
The only thing that is definitely certain about this team is that the MYS propgandists should be hired by presidential candidates.

If you can’t beat them, join them. Since your DD is not good enough, then “follow them”.

You completely missed that the complimentary review of McLean team was posted by an FPYC parent. Whether you like McLean 08 team or hate it, it is refreshing to see a poster, who complimented rather than bad mouthed a team his or her daughter competed against. Lots of respect to FPYC parent, who showed that one can discuss youth soccer without trying to tear down or belittle the opposing team or club.

FPYCparent wrote:Saw McLean Green play first-hand today. They're probably the best team (as far as any published metrics go) that DD has ever faced.

DD's team is a possession team "in development." (Hey, they're 11.) McLean didn't overwhelm with size or speed; they didn't have to. They did it with execution, taking advantage of unforced errors and making the most from what DD's team gave them. 0-2 at the half … with a bobbled keeper save converted for a score and a untimely lapse by the two defenders. The final score isn't worth mentioning.

Watching the game in real-time, McLean appeared to have excellent, on-target one-touch passing and they used the flanks to either set up crosses into the middle or pass back to the top of the penalty box for a long, hard shot (nearly all went too high or wide). I'll have to watch the video replay to see if there was something else that McLean did extremely well. There may have been a total of four or five fouls committed by both teams, from inadvertent trips and a few offside calls. A little bit of physical play here and there, but nothing over the top. DD's coach isn't a screamer and the McLean sat for the entire game, with only a few instructions that I could hear.

I think it would be interesting to see this team go up against an equally-disciplined team, or a team with a little more size and speed.

Oh yeah, a fellow parent noted that at least one former SYA Red player (a neighbor) was now playing for McLean Green. There may have been more that made the same move, but he wasn't sure.

McLean produces a lot of technical girls because they push technique at the younger ages. You can not control how big someone will grow or how fast/quick they will be but you can control how much time they spend on developing individual foot skills. This will lead to faster speed of play as the girls get older.

Oh please.

MYS produces girsl who wants to leave the club is what they do ...

Based on some things that had been posted earlier, I tried to offer some words as objectively as an "opposing" parent can be.

Anyway, SMS Fusion starts next weekend in Fairfax. This will be the third meeting between the teams, and first since they played to a 0-0 draw in the spring.

FPYCParent - kudos for you for not hiding behind some blanketed profile. Appreciate your honest evaluation.

The poster actually signed in and is a regular contributor. The compliment was not made by a McLean parent.
