For those that missed Pat Collins report tonight on channel 4, here is a summary article on their website:

Interesting report. He seems to be on the run. Also interesting he mentioned to some parents he might be traveling to Asia. Lots of little boys in the sex trade over there. I honestly hope he is caught and that no children have suffered at his hands.

Thanks. I saw this was going to be on last night but it was way too late to stay up for. SOME of the info they are broadcasting seems quite a bit different then what has been told to Beuavoir parents (e.g., more than 1 pic found, at least one picture IS a B student). I do not think anyone can be certain which version is the truth and it really makes for confusion and creates grave concerns.

I feel a lot of sympathy for Beauvoir parents and even some of the students who may know about this mess. School is about to start and it is a crappy way to start...I wish them luck and peace of mind. I hope they find the guy, no matter where and the case is brought to some kind of conclusion.

I'd bet that the school did a background check but unless there has been a reported issue in the past this sort of thing would not appear on a background check. If you have concerns as a parent or prospective parent you should call the school to inquire about the background checks done. At most school they call it a CORI (don't recall what it stands for but I had to fill out a form to consent for this kind of background check when I applied to work at another school in the area.

There's some discussion of this issue previously in the forum, although it would be unreasonable to expect anyone to go through all 31 pages to find it.

The short answer is that your wager is correct: the school did a background check but it turned up nothing, as there were no reported issues to be flagged. But I certainly agree that those who have concerns should call the school and ask directly, rather than get their information from anonymous sources on some website.

I also heard from a Beauvoir parent with a child in the specific class that the pictures did not involve touching and were not of a Beauvoir student.

We can agree to disagree. I'd like to know who the Beauvoir parent of a child in the class who says that is...I had a child in the specific class too and I can tell you that the pictures involve touching and that there are other charges beyond the naked pictures. The speculation on this message board is pathetic at times, hurtful, gossipy, untruthful and so many other things. This is a terrible situation no matter whether you have a child from one of his classes, from the school, in the area, are from his family, teach at beauvoir, teach anywhere, had to testify already, had to have your child testify, had to talk to your child about pedophilia, had to wonder about your school (if not Beauvoir) about background checks, no matter who -- I could keep going...it is not a pleasant situation for anyone.

Let's hope that he turns himself in and faces the charges. Perhaps then and only then can everyone learn the truth, otherwise I cannot see how anyone can think that they know anything. Of course who knows if anyone will ever know the whole truth. What I know -- or what I think I know -- makes me sick.

I have stayed out of this post thus far and after reading the article posted at 18:26 I feel inclined to comment now. The fact that the Beauvoir heads escorted this teacher to the door without calling the police is not only shameful, but I believe negligent. They are 100% responsible for the fact that this man is unaccounted for and on the loose. I am all for "innocent until proven guilty," but the fact that this man has vanished does nothing to prove his innocence.

Any school (no matter if public or tuition based) has the onus on them to not only protect their own students, but to protect all children.

I find it amazing that all the speculation, all the defending posts, all of the accusations that added up to 31 pages of comments no one has anything to say about the latest report. Guess no one can come to his defense now?

It's funny how different people can come to different conclusions when reading the same materials. As I went through the 31 pages of postings, I found a number of people who were ready to hang the guy now, and a number of people who thought that the investigative process should run its course and that it was irresponsible, and potentially quite harmful to any number of people, to engage in uninformed public speculation about what the results of that process would be. Perhaps I missed them, but I didn't see any posts that I would classify as "coming to his defense," except perhaps in the sense that believing that those held in Gitmo have the right to basic legal protections is "siding with the terrorists."

I just heard that the teacher's car was found, along with a note, I think in Colorado. Do they suspect suicide?

I don't think he offed himself, I think he wants people to think he did though. He is that manipulative. And the car was left at an airport intentionally to throw the authorities down the wrong track, I am sure about that. He is somewhere else, probably enjoying reading this message board still.

In this day and age, it is very, very difficult to fly domestically, let alone internationally, with a false identity. If he's not at the bottom of the lake, and I agree, there is that selfish manipulative part of him that would suggest that he's not, than I also agree, he probably is still lurking about this forum.
