Invite a friend over or send her outside to play with them. Kids in my neighborhood are interacting in person while sledding. Easy. Does she lose her socialization skills every weekend too? |
You are grasping at straws. Getting back to the school routine and socializing there is nothing like slumming it with the neighborhood kids. |
The metal blade does not help you if most of it is plastic. You will break it eventually. Most people I have seen shoveling have this kind of shovel and they are fairly useless for the ice. They only work well for powder. |
| Dropped my kids off at metro for school today. First time driving and was really surprised at how bad the road conditions still are, even around the city. Glad my kids can metro! |
I am shocked that our private was open today given the temps and road conditions, but… You should have been keeping up with the shoveling early on as everyone recommended. If you waited until it became blocks of ice that’s on you. |
Thoughts and prayers for you come summer break! |
FWIW--Our shovel with the metal blade was no match for the frozen ice-snow that we did not tackle right away/the plow deposited to block us in. We also have a metal gardening shovel so we were fine, but not everyone has garden tools. |
The best for this is a flat metal blade--our neighbor cut the ice on his 100-foot driveway into squares and lifted it out quite efficiently yesterday. It was still super time-consuming for him, but he progressed a lot faster than I did with the curved blade. |
The helplessness! We shoveled our sidewalks and helped neighbors shovel theirs. We dug out our two cars and our neighbors’ (two) cars. All including the snow/ice moved by the plow we were grateful to see Monday afternoon. Done by sunset Monday. |
We all aspire to be as perfect as you. And who is this we? How many of you? Did you have to work on Monday? You are one nasty self righteous person. I bet your kids are dying to get back to school just to get away from you, I know I would be. |
I never claimed to be perfect. I asked why the person whose street was plowed was still complaining when others haven’t been plowed out. They assumed I hadn’t done any snow removal myself. I stated what we (DH and I) had done. Are you always this aggressive/defensive? |
| Glad to see the general tone of thread has returned to sanity. Those that believe they are stuck forever can stay at home and those of us with a shovel and a bit of determination can get back to normal. |
+1 |
I shoveled snow on Sunday, cleared the sidewalk on Monday and the car on Tuesday. Just because you paid someone doesn't mean you have any idea what the situation was like. Temperatures haven't been above freezing yet |
Screw off. Ice is heavy. Not everyone can keep shoveling. Roads are still blocked in areas. No place for kids to wait for buses. Buses getting stuck all over the county. If you didn't want to take care of your kids you should not have had them. I am tired of the BS on these threads complaining about schools not opening. It is called ice get a god dammed dictionary already and shut the hell up. Ice is not snow.... For the MAGA morons or the Mom4Liberty BS all over this thread. We all know that is who is complaining. |
