2025 VA Governor's race

It’s probably bad that I had no idea who that dude is-I had to google.

Look, we can get along. I spent a lot of time chatting with the neighborhood Rs last week during the special election. I’m our precinct captain for the Ds.

That said, there is one R volunteer that we have to be careful of because he verbally assaulted and tried to intimidate one of my friends/D volunteers (not during an Election Day, just in the neighborhood). He went after her because she is Jewish. It was disgusting and the police were involved. So, unfortunately, people like THAT also live among us. I offered to stay with her last week when I realized he was at the other table, but she says she always has her phone at the ready just in case.

Great maybe he will spend tons of money to lose spectacularly like he did in Wisconsin.

+1

All the money in the world won’t get Sears elected. Trump won’t even endorse her.

Not to mention that VA hates Musk even more than most of the country because of DOGE impacts on our jobs and economy.

This is bigger than their so called polices

Republicans have one goal to install a dictatorship and take away your freedoms at every level . This is basic American core values

Either you stand with the US or you are a traitor

Please list the freedoms you think are being eliminated.

Go take a look at Project 2025, the GOP’s playbook.

That was the Heritage Foundation. It is not law. Get real. Give an example of a freedom that has been eliminated.

SCOTUS giving the thumbs up to throw people in jail just because they’re Hispanic and have low-paying jobs.

So, being poor or Hispanic exempts you from the law? That is what you think it should be?

What law? They are allowing racial profiling. Doesn’t matter if the person did anything illegal.

As far as legal presence is concerned, they should check everyone or no one regardless of race. No need to profile if everyone is treated the same.

Can you please clarify - are you saying you're OK if we lock up groups of people without any cause as long as they aren't all one race?

I’m saying if you stop someone for some crime and ask for papers, you ask everyone you stop for papers. Speeders, ask for papers.Naywalkers, ask for papers. Drunk and disorderly, ask for papers. Doesn’t matter what color they are. If you don’t ask one person, don’t ask anyone else.

What if they aren’t stopping someone because of a crime?

What if they stop someone (and detain them for days) just because they look Hispanic and look like they have a low-paying job?

Drove rural VA this week.

TONS of signs for spanberger.
Lots of various delegates.
Some for miyares.
Very few for sears.

In areas that were yugely Trump and Youngkin in the past.

I've seen Sears ads on my social media but they're only about what she's AGAINST--some anti-trans stuff I didn't pay attention to--but nothing about what she's FOR. Has anyone seen any ads or campaign material for her that describe programs, initiatives, or policies that can make a difference in actual people's lives or is she just about culture war issues?

Even if this were closer, I think the looming shutdown would tip this to Spanberger. Add in Musk’s involvement and there a huge incentive for everyone in NOVA with even a tangential connection to the federal government to get out to vote.

I most likely will vote for Spanberger even though I have strong concerns about one party control of the state, especially since Dems tried to eliminate the college tuition waiver for the kids of 100% disabled veterans and Gold Star families, and it was only restored when Youngkin intervened. I wish we had a better option than Earle-Sears, no offense to her.

I am 11:54 above, and I agree that education issues are a concern - that’s why I voted for Youngkin.

It will end up being a double digit win for Spanberger.

It’s the rural places that have a confederate flag and a winsome sears sign that baffle me. It seems . . . Inconsistent?
