More like for a decade+. Songs like Illicit Affairs, Maroon and End Game are pretty specific and allude to what really went on between them. She was hooking up with Matty secretly whenever their schedules aligned.

Joe and Travis are her move-on drugs with temporary effects. She needed distractions while she licks her wounds from being spurned by Matty, but he is the one she loves. He is her muse, the one who inspired every album since 1989. In her words: “All those nights you kept me going, swirled you into all of my poems.”

The fantasy of Matty… but she bit the apple and it’s still not ripe or maybe it is mushy and disgusting.

Either way he didn’t live up to the hype in her head.

That man does awesome things with his hands on a guitar, can really dance, and is very confident and uninhibited. Also, Down Bad, Guilty As Sin and Halsey’s poems exist…

interesting discussion. basically no chance Matty Healy is longing for taylor. the reason is, he is too old. 35 year old men are too old and cynical for that kind of romantic longing. as for taylor, more likely, but she will be/is rejected and will move on.

I like Taylor and get it that she loves Matty, but I think he would be happier with someone like his current gf or Miley Cyrus who is creative like Taylor, but also a lot more free, authentic, and has a dgaf attitude. I just don't see Matty with someone like TS: she is too fame focused, too much drama and victim mentality, too over the top with her incessant diss tracks, and her fans would be too much for him (and for most). I totally get why he left her.

I agree this is why Taylor is better with Travis... he does not GAF, nor does his brother.

Matty doesn’t do drugs any more. He drinks and smokes weed at times, and so do Taylor and Travis.
