That's good news. It should have happened 2 years ago, but I'll take it.

You'll have to pry that streetry from the Frenchman's cold, dead hands.

That mess was approved when it violated rush hour and parking lane regulations and then extended when it violated regulations. The city made a huge mistake with any approvals of it.

July 31 is the deadline to remove it. For good.

The fact that the space on the same block that used to be Jake's has been empty for the past 15 years bothers me much more than the streetery.

Jake’s closed in 2019. But it does feel like 15 yrs.

The old Jake's space is owned by Joe Mamo, the gas-station tycoon who also owns the Exxon next door. He's trying to sell both parcels to someone so they can be redeveloped into condos but the environmental issues involved with building on the site of a gas station are proving difficult.

Man, I wanted to like Jake's so much, and it was good for a drink and to watch sports. But the food and service were so very disappointing.

Has anyone asked the owner of Rosemarys Bistro if he plans on taking down the streatery as required this summer ? Please report back if so.

I think he has until July 31.

Gonna be an emptier-than-usual eyesore with temps near 100 over the next week.

Probably too busy peeing on it and complaining about the smell.

"My plan is to follow the rules.”

Frederic Darricarrere, Rosemary Bistro owner, October 2024, Washingtonian magazine.

Unless he's gotten an exemption (and there hasn't been any of the required public notice that he's asked for one), his off-hours vagrant toilet needs to come down by July 31.

Ate in the streetery this morning, didn't smell like piss.

Hopefully he's able to keep it.

Why is he holding onto Jake’s space and not allowing it to be leased out? Seems like that would have been perfect for Eddie Cano expansion of Italian bar instead of next to Rosemary Bistro.

+1

Homeless encampments looked better than what Rosemary’s Bistro plopped on the road. Good riddance.

He doesn't want an tenant with a long lease. He wants a developer to buy it and the gas station from him.
