Well. APE really walked right into this one. Thanks for highlighting this, PP.

Tell us again that you're not a MAGA right wing org, APE!

Are you serious? I can't stand the IWF, but why wouldn't APE highlight a congressional hearing with bipartisan "consensus that from all the witnesses and Members of Congress that school closures had led to learning loss and negative mental health effects that are still present today, and the fundamental importance of keeping schools open." That's the point of this whole thing, not to promote some rightwinger.

They don't control who congress invites as witnesses and they don't even mention her name despite sharing her comments about APE's work. But they do name and draw attention to quotes from two other witnesses. Seems like a fair summary of what happened in a congressional hearing where APE was mentioned.

Link to it so others can determine for themselves https://www.arlingtonparentsforeducation.org/enews/april-20-2023/#Hearing

APE CHOSE to highlight ONE witness from that hearing - the MAJA RWNJ. Very telling.

You seem to lack critical reading skills. They highlight two witnesses by name and their quotes. The mention this person and 4th witness and do not name them.

they give top billing to the MAGA one and note favorably that he quotes APE's twitter. Seems like a close connection to me. YMMV.

NP - MMV, I guess. Seems to me, most people would "highlight" something that quotes or references them/their group.

I mean if a RWNJ highlighted something I wrote, I would rethink my position. And I certainly wouldn't put it out there as a positive thing. But that's just me, I don't lean the way you do. APE clearly views the endorsement from a RWNJ as a plus. That says it all to me.

Obviously you "don't lean the way (I) do" because I don't lean. I'm a moderate who is sick of both extreme ends of the spectrum bashing everyone and everything that does not 100% align with their views.

Yes James Vell Rives is running in general. The school board endorsement vote starts next week.

So you are saying they should rethink the excerpt below? Spoiler alert that parties generally agreed on it at the hearing. Most of the world now seems to agree that “it didn’t have to be that way”. Should they also distance themself from the comments they highlighted from the journalist and the school nurse? Don’t hurt yourself with that stretch.

Testimony from a former APS parent highlighted the impacts seen in Arlington, noting how a majority of APS’ Black and Hispanic students and students with disabilities tested “below basic” on the Fall 2022 Math Inventory assessment, widening existing achievement gaps. As discussed at the hearing, APS’ results were consistent with other districts around the country where virtual and hybrid learning continued well into 2021.

Quoting from our twitter account from June of 2021, the witness noted that, “Almost all APS kids went over 350 days without stepping foot into a building. When they finally did, it was - and still is - for only two days a week. The worst part: It didn’t have to be like this."

Yes I am saying I think it is telling that APE chose to highlight the RWNJ witness from the Republican hearing that criticized how our blue county did things. Also APE really cannot move on from the pandemic.

I just checked out her donors for the most recent filing period (earlier filing periods would cover last campaign). 21 donors gave $100 a more and you can see their names. Another 47 donated $100 or less so you can't see them. Makes sense that some APE folks would give to her, but why do you assume those 47 are Republicans. DO you have evidence of that?

Based on her website, Miranda has ACDC support locked up.

PP. I made a mistake above. 21 gave 100 or more. You can see their names. I have no idea how many of those are Republicans. I recognize a couple of names who I know are Dems. Another donor was on the CB as an independent. Another who wrote for Arlnow and is a Dem. Have no idea about other donors among those 21. And then there are 47 donors who donated less than 100 and you can't see who those are. Have no idea why you keep saying her supporters are all Rs when it seems like she has a lot of Dem support.

YMMV.

It's also telling that APE writes favorably about a hearing held by the REPUBLICAN majority of the house of reps. Pretty clear who they align with.

They will have Miranda's ear. Look at her donors.

Do you mean Miranda's donors are APE or Republican (is there a difference?)

Not exclusively, but yes. The link to her donors was posted earlier.

I'm not talking about the 47.

Nobody said that.

NP. OMG....let it go! YOU'RE the one who obviously can't move on!

Ok. APE criticized APS's pandemic response from 2 -3 years ago in its latest newsletter, but I'm the one who can't move on. You are hilarious.

DP. Well, we surely wouldn't want anyone with bipartisan support!

No such thing in 2023. Sane people don't associate with the current GOP.

Exactly. The APE and pro-Miranda types on here keep excusing and defending their ties and sympathies with the Republicans and R positions. It's very telling.
